The <a href="https://websummit.com/pitch">Web Summit Startup Pitch Competition</a> is a startup competition at <a href="https://websummit.com">Web Summit 2019</a> that brings together the world&rsquo;s leading early-stage startups for a live on-stage battle. To make it more interactive and fun for Web Summit attendees the TAIKAI team has prepared the TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition to select the best pitches on an online crowd-based contest that runs in parallel with the event. The competition will run on the TAIKAI platform as a challenge and following the official competition timeline. The TAIKAI token-based voting technology will empower the transparency, traceability, and auditability of the contest. <h2 id="howdoesitwork">How does it work?</h2> The official competition that happens on Lisbon from 4-7 of November will be evaluated by an independent recognized panel of judges for assessment. The Web Summit Startups selected for the pitch competition will have a project page on Web Summit Taikai challenge, where you can find useful information about the startup. During the event in Lisbon, we will distribute to Web Summit attendees a voucher with 100 KAIs to vote on the TAIKAI platform. On the 4th of November, the online voting competition will be open to any person that redeemed the voucher and the participants will have a chance to distribute their KAIs on their favorites pitches/startups. The Startups that receive the highest amount of KAIs tokens from the crowd will get KAIs as a reward, exposure, social recognition from all the competition voters. The best voters will also be rewarded based on the final results and their voting choices. <h2 id="howcaniparticipateasavoter">How can i participate as a voter?</h2> On the 4th of November, register on the <a href="https://taikai.network/signup">TAIKAI Platform</a> and redeem the Web Summit voucher to be a participant. Once you redeem the voucher you will receive KAI Tokens to be spent on the Side Competition. <h2 id="howcanifollowthecompetition">How can i follow the competition?</h2> View and evaluate the startups at the Web Summit event and vote for your favorites until 7th November at 11:59pm. You can follow the competition on Twitter by following @taikainetwork or #taikai. <h2 id="howdoestaikaiensuretransparencyandauditability">How does TAIKAI ensure transparency and auditability?</h2> All transactions and votes submitted by the participants will be validated on a public blockchain (EOS.io) for further analysis or audit purposes. <h2 id="whataretheincentivestovotefairlyandcorrectly">What are the incentives to vote fairly and correctly?</h2> As a crowdsourcing-based platform built on a token-based economy, the platform will recognize the voters that have identified the best pitches and will reward them with KAI Tokens to acknowledge their participation in the contest, using a proprietary algorithm.

Before reading the Rules of this Challenge, we kindly advise you to fully read our <a href="https://taikai.network/about/terms-and-conditions">Terms &amp; Conditions</a> in order to understand how it will function and take the best out of the experience. <h2 id="introduction">Introduction</h2><ol><li>TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition is a startup competition organized by TAIKAI at Web Summit that brings together the world&rsquo;s leading early-stage startups for a live on-stage battle;</li><li>The goal is to select the best pitches on an online crowded based contest that runs in parallel aside the event;</li><li>Any person that redeemed the voucher can vote and will have a chance to distribute their KAIs on their favorites pitches/startups;</li><li>All the transactions and the votes submitted by the participants might be validated on the EOS public blockchain for further analysis or audit purposes;</li><li>TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition will begin at 9:00 on the 5th of November 2019 and will finish at 23:59 on the 7th of November 2019;</li><li>The Competition will take place at Altice Arena &amp; Fil, Lisbon.</li></ol><h2 id="voucherredeemrequirements">Voucher redeem requirements</h2><ol><li>User must have a Taikai account.</li><li>The Taikai account must be validated ( using SMS validation ).</li><li>Taikai team reserves the right to withhold a registration or redeem in case it believes that the profile is fake.</li></ol><h2 id="communicationchannel">Communication Channel</h2><ol><li>All information regarding the event is available at TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition;</li><li>Taikai platform will manage the voting process;</li><li>The winner will be announced on the Taikai platform and social media in the last day on Web Summit.</li></ol><h2 id="agendaanddurationoftheevent">Agenda and Duration of the Event</h2><ol><li>TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition will begin at 9:00 on the 5th of November 2019 and will finish at 23:59 on the 7th of November 2019.</li></ol><h2 id="evaluationandeligibility">Evaluation and Eligibility</h2><ol><li>The Participants have the possibility to select the best pitches on an online crowded based contest that runs in parallel aside the event;</li><li>Before the end of the Web summit all eligible startups (projects) will be evaluated and voted by the juries (backers);</li><li>A prize will be awarded to the startup with the most votes.</li></ol><h2 id="prizes">Prizes</h2><ol><li>100 000 KAIs is the maximum number of KAIS to be used as reward for this contest.</li><li>The prize will be distributed between the startups and backers(juries/voters). The startups receive 50% and the backers 50% of the KAIS distributed on the voting contest by the backers.</li><li>The prize will be distributed following the voting results and the TAIKAI reward algorithm.</li><li>The startups with the higher number of votes will receive more KAI rewards and the startups with fewer votes will receive fewer rewards.</li><li>The backers will receive rewards based on their voting choices and the final contest result.</li></ol><h2 id="finalremarks">Final Remarks</h2><ol><li>Participation in the TAIKAI Blockchain Side Pitch Competition implies acceptance of all Terms &amp; Conditions;</li></ol>These terms and conditions were created on 17th October 2019.
