ETH Ireland Hackathons Limited (referred to as "ETHIreland"), located at Malton House, Custom House Square, Dublin 1, is organising a challenge ("Challenge") to be held from May 31st to June 2nd, 2024.
In this document, there are details on:
3.1. These Rules define participation terms for the Challenge. They supplement the General User Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. In case of inconsistency, these Rules prevail.
3.2. The Challenge is based on skill, not chance, and does not resemble a lottery.
4.1. Hacker participation is guaranteed via a refundable €10 deposit, less the Stripe fees.
4.2. Innovators must read and accept the Rules before Registration.
4.3. Participants must be of legal age. Minors require parental/guardian consent.
4.4. Innovators must comply with the Rules to be eligible for Prizes.
4.5. Each person may submit only one entry.
4.6. Teams are recommended to consist of 2 to 5 members.
4.7. Non-compliance with the Rules will result in disqualification without notice.
5.1. Innovators must create a user account on taikai.network, providing valid information and accepting the General Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
5.2. Incomplete or incorrect registrations will be disqualified.
5.3. Innovators agree to receive email communications from the Organiser.
6.1. The Challenge will run from May 31st to June 2nd, 2024.
6.2. All dates are in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) for the year 2024.
6.3. The Organiser reserves the right to adjust the duration of the Challenge with notice to participants.
7.1. The Challenge involves creating contributions aligned with specified requirements.
7.2. Contributions must adhere to the Challenge rules and be in English.
8.1. Project Deliverables must meet Challenge requirements outlined on the platform.
8.2. Innovators must submit the following on the platform:
8.3. Incomplete or unreadable submissions will be notified for resubmission before the deadline.
8.4. Projects suspected of third-party involvement will be disqualified.
8.5. Large files may be uploaded to external sites with links provided in the project description.
9.1. Project evaluation will occur on June 2nd, 2024.
9.2. Evaluation criteria include technicality, practicability, innovation, and originality.
9.3. Selection is based on merit, excluding personal attributes or chance.
9.4. Expert Judges will be appointed to select winning projects.
9.5. Transparent token-based voting will facilitate project selection.
The use of copyright-free photos or images is required. The Organiser is not liable for third-party intellectual property rights.
11.1. Prizes are awarded based on project quality, adherence to rules, and acceptance of Intellectual Property and disclosure terms.
11.2. Prize delivery is contingent on meeting Challenge rules and providing necessary documentation.
11.3. Only projects on the taikai.network website are eligible for prizes.
11.4. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
11.5. The Organiser may substitute prizes of similar value or provide cash equivalents if prizes are unavailable.
11.6. The Organiser is not liable for any issues related to prize use or functionality.
11.7. Winners are responsible for any additional costs associated with prizes.
11.8. Winners will be notified via email within 15 days after the Challenge ends.
11.9. Prize structure will be defined closer to the event.
12.1. Projects involving multiple Innovators are collaborative works.
12.2. The Organiser has rights to reproduce, distribute, and modify projects.
12.3. Each Innovator guarantees ownership of Intellectual Property rights related to their contributions.
12.4. Innovators must ensure originality and accuracy of their contributions.
13.1. Winners authorise the use of their information for promotional purposes for up to 2 years after the Challenge.
14.1. The Organiser is not liable for telecommunication network issues affecting participation.
14.2. Participants acknowledge internet-related risks and limitations and release the Organiser from liability.
14.3. The Organiser is not liable for late submissions, website issues, or email delivery failures.
14.4. The Organiser is not liable for Challenge modifications or cancellations beyond its control.
14.5. Disqualification due to rule violations does not incur Organiser liability.
14.6. The Organiser is not liable for project use beyond Challenge scope.
14.7. Winners are responsible for prize receipt; Organiser is not liable for non-receipt.
15.1. Innovators must not use or disclose confidential information for purposes other than Challenge participation.
15.2. At the Challenge's end, Innovators must return all confidential information to the Organiser.
16.1. Participation and prize eligibility require full compliance with the Rules.
16.2. The Organiser reserves the right to modify the Rules without notice.
17.1. The Organiser may cancel or suspend the Challenge in cases of force majeure or fraud.
17.2. The Organiser is not liable for cancellation or suspension, and no compensation is due to participants.
18.1. Participation does not create a subordinate relationship between the Organiser and participants.
19.1. Participants must submit claims within 30 days of the Challenge's end.
19.2. Claims related to the website must be sent to the specified address.
19.3. Claims related to the Challenge must be sent to the Organiser's address.
19.4. Claims must include full contact details and detailed reasons for the claim.
20.1. Parties agree to attempt amicable settlement of disputes before legal action.
20.2. The initiating party must inform the other party of reconciliation intentions.
20.3. If no agreement is reached within 30 days, parties may pursue legal action.
The Challenge is governed by Irish law, and disputes are subject to exclusive jurisdiction in Irish courts.
