What is the goal of the challenge?</h2><p><br></p><p>The challenge proposed is the development of a mobile application to read the code with the respective identification of the lDTag using the camera available on any mobile device or using low-end hardware attached to the device. The application should be able to identify all the information available on the code and show it on the application screen.</p><h2><br></h2><h2 id="2whocanapplysubmitaproject">2. Who can apply/submit a project?</h2><p><br></p><p>Anyone can apply to this challenge: students, developers, engineers, data scientists, founders, startups, etc. You will need to form a team of 1 - 5 members and you can only submit one project.</p><p><br></p><p>The participation in the Challenge is under the conditions of:</p><ul><li>being any person on legal age and able to justify it with an Identification card.</li></ul><h2><br></h2><h2 id="3howcaniapplysubmitaproject">3. How can I apply/submit a project?</h2><p><br></p><p>You need to go to the <a href="http://taikai.network/ctt/challenges/dcode-challenge">challenge page</a> and register your participation clicking on the button &ldquo;Be an Innovator&rdquo;. After you confirm your interest, in the challenge page you will have a button to &ldquo;Create a project&rdquo;. Add a name, a description and who will join you on this adventure. Then you can add a lot more content and improve this page to show how good your project is. Don&#39;t forget to click on &quot;Publish&quot; to have your project visible to the jury and organization and if you need you can do as many changes as you need until the submission deadline.</p><h2><br></h2><h2 id="4whatarethedeadlinesofthechallenge">4. What are the deadlines of the challenge?</h2><ul><li>Registration will occur between the 1st of July and the 31st of July at 23:59;</li><li>Project submission will take place from the 15th of July to the 31st of August at 23:59;</li><li>Project selection will occur between the 1st of September and the 3rd of September;</li><li>Winners will be announced on 4th of September.</li></ul><h2 id="5whatarethedeliverablesofthischallenge">5. What are the deliverables of this challenge?</h2><p><br></p><p>Between the 15th of July and the 31st of August, you will have to publish on the platform, you Project, comprised of:</p><ul><li>Demo Video hosted on YouTube or Vimeo;</li><li>TAIKAI Project Description documenting all the technologies and the approach used to decode the bus;</li><li>Source Code Repository Repository access. if your repository is private, share access with <a href="mailto:support@taikai.network">support@taikai.network</a>;</li><li>Screenshots, Diagrams or Slideshow Presentations.</li><li>Any other relevant documentation.</li></ul><h2 id="6whohasaccesstomyproject">6. Who has access to my project?</h2><p><br></p><p>You, your team and CTT members have access to the full description and details of your project. Other users from TAIKAI can only see a small description of your project.</p><h2><br></h2><h2 id="7howisgoingtobetheselectionprocess">7. How is going to be the selection process?</h2><p><br></p><p>This selection process will be carried out by a panel of jury composed by CTT experts, as well as the participants of the challenge. Selection uses the following set of criteria: innovativeness, feasibility, workable product and presentation quality.</p><h2><br></h2><h2 id="8whathappenswithmyintellectualpropertywhenisubmitaproject">8. What happens with my intellectual property when I submit a project?</h2><p><br></p><p>During and after the end of the Challenge, CTT will have the right to use and register the Intellectual Property resulting from the winning project (e.g. code, algorithms, documentation, etc.) for their commercial use, by transferring all your intellectual property to CTT once you win the challenge. How will the prize be paid?</h2><p><br></p><p>The prize shall be paid after the issuance of an invoice from the winning team or a project member, with the correct CTT fiscal/legal data.</p><h2><br></h2><h2 id="10wherecaniaskmyquestionsaboutthechallenge">10. <p>CTT is a Portuguese company which operates as both the national postal service of Portugal and a commercial group with subsidiaries operating in banking, e-commerce, and other postal services.</p><p><br></p><p>All mail that passes through the Portuguese mailpost machines is printed with a single fluorescent 4 state bus. Behind that bus is a code identified as the object&#39;s IDTag used to track the object throughout the mail post journey.</p><p><br></p><p>The IDTag is a set of characters that contains some information related to the object&#39;s bus, namely the date it was barred, the equipment, the priority, among other information and which obeys a specific mail standard. The identification of the bus IDTag thus allows the mail post delivery system to immediately retrieve information related to the object, without the need to use any IT system or a network connection.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/taikai-storage/images/challenges/d-code-challenge/ctt-envelop.jpg" alt="4-State Code" class="fr-fic fr-dii" style="width: 500px;"></p><p>The bus used has 75 bars and is of the 4-State type, its specific use for identification of postal objects.</p><p>Each bus can have 4 states. So it is possible to make the following identification of the status of each bar:</p><ul><li>Tracker (T) &mdash;Small, centered bar</li><li>Ascender (A) &mdash;Medium and top bar</li><li>Descender (D) &mdash;Medium bar below</li><li>Full Height (F) &mdash;Long bar</li></ul><p style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/taikai-storage/images/challenges/d-code-challenge/4-state.png" alt="4-State Code" class="fr-fic fr-dii" style="width: 500px;"></p><p>Within type 4 States codes, the standard used is the S18C (applicable in the case of 75 bars), which uses the Reed-Solomon scheme for the detection of errors and corrections. ID-tagging of letter mail items. 4-state encoding specification for small letters</li></ul><h2 id="goal">Goal</h2><p><br></p><p>The challenge proposed is the development of a mobile application to read the code with the respective identification of the lDTag using the camera available on any mobile device. The application should be able to identify all the information available on the code and show it on the application screen.</p><p><br></p><p>To be acceptable to receive the prize, the solution must meet the following requirements:</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Devices:</strong></p><ul><li>Compatible with Android or iOS mobile devices.</li><li>Android 8 Oreo or iOS 12 minimum version.</li></ul><p><strong>Programming language:</strong></p><ul><li>The code must be independent of the device and will be valued if it does not use the native language. If solutions without native code are presented, solutions with native code are not considered.</li><li>Solutions with native code will have to be evaluated case by case.</li><li>App that can easily integrate via APIs / other service</li></ul><p><strong>Is is mandatory that the mobile application works in three scenarios</strong>:</p><ul><li>When the postman is in the field there is no network connection and the purpose is to read and decrypt the codes when they&rsquo;re delivering the post.</li><li>In the post office, with or without internet connection.</li><li>In the warehouse, where there is no internet connection.</li></ul><p><strong>Photography:</strong></p><ul><li>Pictures should be able to decode with ambient light</li><li>No additional device should be used to improve the quality of the photo</li><li>The photographs must be kept in the APP for consultation and there must be a possibility to delete the photograph / folder of the photographs when they are no longer needed, as well as the information (IDTag and bus code) associated with them. The location of the recording of the images must be well identified, in order to change if there is a change of device</li></ul><p><strong>Bus:</strong></p><ul><li>It should be possible to decode the Bus with photographs taken by the mobile device and to display the decoded information (FDTA code).</li><li>It is mandatory to decode/read the code on the mobile device without any additional help from the server/backend side and without a network connection.</li><li>It must be possible through the identification of the bus code to obtain the respective IDTag using the S18C standard and the display of the IDTag.</li><li>The information that makes up the IDTag must be presented in a simple and readable form (for example the date, the equipment, etc.)</li><li>The bus code as well as the IDTag must be stored in the device for consultation and associated with the photograph taken.</li><li>Fast decoding of the bus and return of the IDtag and bus code (less than 30 seconds).</li></ul><p><strong>Source Code:</strong></p><ul><li>The winner team should provide access to the source code for further use or consultation.</li></ul><h2 id="eligibility">Eligibility</h2><ul><li>Individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry (most countries set the age of majority at 18 including the US, UK, Germany);</li><li>Teams with a maximum of 5 members;</li><li>Organizations such as companies, startups or other.

<h2 id="timeline">Timeline</h2><h2><br></h2><h2 id="registrationperiod1stjuly31thjuly">Registration Period - 1st July - 31th July</h2><p><br></p><p>Firstly you and your teammates will need to register on http://taikai.network and register as an innovator on the official challenge page [here]. You can also start describing your project and add your friends to your projects.</p><p><br></p><h2 id="participationperiod15thjuly31thaugust">Participation Period - 15th July - 31th August</h2><p><br></p><p>This is the time to further develop your idea. At the end of this stage the deliverables must be submitted on the challenge page as a project until 31th of August 23:59 pm WET Time. You should provide all the project materials and a succinct description that clarifies all the projects&rsquo; purpose to meet the challenges proposed.</p><p><br></p><p>Upload <strong>images, screenshots, videos, diagrams</strong> to help the judges to evaluate your project and increase your chances to be the winner.</p><p>If you have any questions regarding the competition, please send an email to support@taikai.network explaining your issue. We are here to help you on this journey.</p><p><br></p><h2 id="judgementperiod1stseptember3rdseptember">Judgement Period - 1st September - 3rd September</h2><p><br></p><p>This is the period that our selected group of juries will assess the delivered project submissions and vote for winners following the evaluation criterias defined on the &ldquo;Judging Criteria&rdquo; section.</p><p><br></p><p>Each Judge/Backer will have KAI to back his favorite projects after evaluating in detail the project resources. All the voting transactions published by each backer are public and could be scrutinized by any person after the challenge is terminated.</p><p>In this period the participants can not update their project submission under any circumstance.</p><p><br></p><h2 id="winnersannounced4thseptember">Winners Announced 4th September</h2><p><br></p><p>On 4th of August the winners and the final results are published on the taikai website. Apart from the 1st prize, all the top 10 project&rsquo;s members will also receive KAI token rewards, and special badges as social recognition for their effort on this remarkable initiative.</p>
