Schedule

25.04. Start of Registration

Once registrations are open, you can create a project and ask for people to join you if you want to participate as a team. During registration you can optionally apply for on-site participation at the Hackathon venue in the Austria Trend Parkhotel Schönbrunn in Vienna. As space is limited we will let you know as soon as possible if we will be able to accommodate you there. In the meantime you can join our Slack workspace, where you will be able to communicate with other participants and ask questions.

13.05. Hybrid Hackathon day

9:00 - 9:30 Coffee for on-site participants

Arrive at the event venue, get an overview, grab a hot beverage and meet other participants. We want to make this event as safe as possible for all on-site participants and therefore we ask you to bring a valid PCR or antigen test certificate.  If that is not possible for you, we ask you to do a free Covid antigen test with our test team at the entrance. Thanks for your cooperation 🤗

9:30 - 10:00 Hybrid Hackathon Opening and Competition Intro (🎥 streamed live)

The event will kick-off with some opening words streamed live to everybody around the world. We will give a quick overview of the structure of the day and explain in detail how the competition track will work and how individual participants or teams can bring their code into our simulator.

10:00 - 12:30 Competition Round 1: Efficiency (2.5 hours)

Speaker: Balazs Molnar, Software Developer

In this brownbag Balazs will show you the open source knowledge management system Obsidian. This tale will cover the most important quality that blockchains aim to achieve - decentralisation - and how that quality is achieved. The aim of the brown bag is to give you a high-level understanding of the properties and ideas relevant to all blockchain technologies. This brownbag will not talk in detail about economical aspects of blockchains (cryptocurrencies and decentralised finance), applications of blockchains (e.g. NFTs), and current developments & trends in blockchains (e.g. forks, inter-blockchain communication).

12:00 - 12:30 Brownbag: Building an Automatic Speech Recognition System for Bashkir (🎥 streamed live)

Speaker: Monja Burkard, Data Scientist

As part of a project to preserve his native language Bashkir, Aigiz Kunafin developed a Speech Recognition System, which is able to convert audio signals into text. In this session, we will introduce XLSR, the underlying model, and give an overview of the steps involved in building it.
