What is Trustbit Logistics Hackathon 2022?Trustbit Logistics Hackathon 2022 is a yearly technology event, one day of non-stop technical talks, competitions, coding, learning and sharing with extraordinary people from all over the world. For 8 hours straight, around 100 participants (max. 50 people on-site) exchange ideas, share and expand their knowledge and enjoy our coding competition as well as the amazing Austrian food. Who can attend?Trustbit Logistics Hackathon 2022 is targeted at creative minds with a hacker spirit (in the classical definition of the word). Anyone with a technical profile is welcome to apply, not only engineers (e.g., web designers are welcome, too). Do I need to be a Data Scientist or Machine Learning expert to take part in the competition?No, with a bit of coding know how, you will still be able to achieve great results. To make it easy to enter the competition, we will publish Python and Java templates of the truck agent scripts, which participants can then take as a basis for their teams submission.If you do not want to take part in the competition you can still attend the event and watch our live streamed brownbag sessions or chat with other people. Do any Covid regulations apply for the on-site event?We want to make this event as safe as possible for all on-site participants and therefore we ask you to bring a valid PCR or antigen test certificate. If that is not possible for you, we ask you to do a free Covid antigen test with our test team at the entrance. Thanks for your cooperation 🤗 How much does it cost?Our Hackathon is free for all participants, but we do not pay for the on-site attendees´ transportation and/or accommodation costs.  I registered but can't attend the event, what do I do?Please let us know. On-site spots are limited and it would be nice if another candidate could go instead (but no, you cannot choose who that candidate might be). Will there be a live stream from the event?Yes, live streaming will be available. The feed will be focused on the activities taking place on the main stage, such as the opening keynote and the announcement of winners at the end of the day. In between we will stream technical brownbag sessions and panel discussions with experts in the logistics sector. Will the live streamed sessions be recorded?Yes, every session will be recorded and we will make them available online on YouTube and other social media in the weeks following the event. Will we take photos at the on-site event and if yes, where will they be published?Yes, there will be a photographer at the on-site event, who will document the day for us. Some of those photos will be published on social media like LinkedIn and Twitter. Are there prizes for winning in one of the categories of the competition?Yes, participants of the competition track will be able to win prizes in the form of coupons. As we do not want to openly support specific online retailers, the winners will be able to pick from a list provided by us. How can my team get support from the hackathon support team during the competition?When you <a href="https://taikai.network/en/trustbit/hackathons/sustainablelogisticssimulation/projects" target="_blank">created a project</a> for you / your team on Taikai, please provide a unique ID for your team and add the Slack handles of your team members on the project page. The project template explains that in more detail. That way we know how to reach you on Slack. For general questions please use channel #support-competition and we will make sure to answer them as fast as possible. You can also create a private channel `#support_[unique_team_id]` and add your team members and our support staff with the Slack handle `@support-staff` there, if you want to submit confidential information. Additional instructions on how to take part in the competition and about all the rules, will be published on the Hackathon day May 13 around 9:30 CEST. But you are permitted to use publicly available or openly licensed APIs, SDKs, frameworks and other software libraries for your project. <h2>Trustbit Hackathon</h2><h3>Sustainable Logistics Simulation</h3>  Experts in data science, machine learning and software development will work together to find efficient and sustainable logistics solutions for the EU at the Trustbit Hackathon: Sustainable Logistics Simulation on 13 May 2022. Freight transports, delivery routes and logistics systems are key drivers of the European economy. They allow countries to work together across borders, achieve better results together and find efficient and sustainable solutions for the future through cooperation and collaboration. Trustbit aims to foster this cooperation and brings together experts, developers and scientists to demonstrate what we can achieve by joining forces. The event will start at 9:30am and happen online for remote participation and physically in the Austria Trend Parkhotel Schönbrunn in Vienna (prior registration required). We want to make this event as safe as possible for all on-site participants and therefore we ask you to bring a valid PCR or antigen test certificate. Thanks for your cooperation 🤗 <h3>🚚  Competition Track</h3>Together, we want to leverage practical applications in software development, data science and machine learning that can move materials, goods and products efficiently and sustainably across the EU. To this end, Trustbit will provide a simulated environment in the form of a digital twin of the main transport networks in which participants can program smart agents. Teams and individuals will be judged on efficiency and sustainability and the results will be shared publicly with the community. At the end of the day, the winners for our 4 competition categories will be nominated and receive prizes. Round 1: Efficiency (09:30 - 12:30)The first round of the competition, which will happen in the morning, will be focused on efficiency scores (e.g. how much cargo did trucks transport and how many empty kilometers did they accumulate). We are looking for the most efficient implementations in the following two categories:<ul><li>🏆  Individual trucks - for individual participants. You will get to program a single truck. Scores are based on the efficiency of that truck, compared to others.</li><li>🏆  Truck fleets - for small teams. You get to program trucks and a small coordination program. Scores are based on the efficiency of the entire truck fleet compared to other fleets.</li></ul>Round 2: Sustainability (13:00 - 16:00)The second round will introduce sustainability mechanics - optimising not only for the cargo transfer but also for being reducing carbon emissions. We are looking for the implementations which reach the lowest carbon footprint in the following two categories:<ul><li>🏆  Individual trucks - for individual participants. You will get to program a single truck. Scores are based on the optimisation of carbon emissions of that truck, compared to others.</li><li>🏆  Truck fleets - for small teams. You get to program trucks and a small coordination program. Scores are based on the optimisation of carbon emissions of the entire truck fleet compared to other fleets. </li></ul> <h3>👩‍🏫  Learn &amp; Share Track (10:00 - 16:00)</h3>In addition to the competition, we also want to offer all interested parties the opportunity to exchange ideas and to share and expand their knowledge. Therefore, parallel to our competition track, there will be the Learn &amp; Share track for everyone who wants to participate in a relaxed collaborative learning experience, as well as a panel where experts will discuss their experiences and insights. Talks and panels will be streamed worldwide, allowing you to immerse yourself in various interesting topics without participating in the competition. Our Hackathon chat on Slack will also be open to anyone who wants to follow the competition and ask questions.<h3> </h3><h3>How to participate?</h3><ol><li>Register and decide if you will attend the main event on May 13 remotely or on-site in Vienna.     Registration is open from April 25 2022. </li><li>Form a team and add it on the Projects page (recommended team sizes 1-5 people) No need to provide details about your project or team.     This is just necessary for us, so we know who will be working in which team.</li><li>Join our Hackathon Slack Workspace     All communication before, during and after the main event will happen there.</li><li>On the day of the Hackathon Check out the documentation we publish about the Hackathon simulation on May 13. You will be provided with a barebones script which can serve as a template for your teams solution. Each project team needs to push their script to a public git repository and share the URL with us via a private Slack message.
