🤔  FAQS

What is the goal of the hackathon?

The goal of the Build for the Future Hackathon is to give back to the community by providing a platform and solutions for nonprofits to digitize their work and increase their outreach and impact.

Who will select nonprofits for the hackathon?

This time, OutSystems has shortlisted nonprofits from different regions and based on their impact and use case selected those most suitable for this challenge.

Can team members be from different countries?

As long as the team members belong to the same organisation (OutSystems Partner or Customer), participants can be from different countries.  Actually, we completely support building a diverse team with unique backgrounds and skillsets, and from multiple locations when possible.  The most diverse team will receive special recognition!

What is the estimated time and effort expected from the teams participating?

We estimate about five hours per week. Teams can divide the tasks and find the appropriate balance in efforts invested.

Can I participate alone?

Unfortunately, no. You need to have a team to participate.

How do I form a team?

All your team members should register as innovators on the challenge page before the 10th of January 2020. During the project creation, you can add your team members as project members using their username or registered email.

What is the size of each team?

Your team should have up to five participants to be considered for the hackathon (plus the optional addition of a new OutSystems developer from the OutSystems Developer School as a sixth team member).

Are there any other requirements for the teams?

Yes, each team must be completely composed of members belonging to the same OutSystems partner or customer organization; however, they can be from different regions (in case it is an international organisation).

How are applicants selected?

For teams to be considered, they need to follow the rules of registration. The hackathon is limited to 15 teams. The criteria for selection will be capacity (first come, first serve) After 15 teams have registered, all the other registrations will be put on a waiting list.

Who has access to my project?

During the competition, the published projects and draft projects are only visible to you, your team members, and the organization. After the competition is finished and after the results are revealed, the project details are going to be visible to anyone who visits the TAIKAI platform.

How will Q&A and presentations be hosted?

Before every Q&A/presentation begins, we will send a Zoom link to all of the participants. We will post more details about the sign-up process as the hackathon gets nearer.

Will the Q&A sessions and presentations be recorded?

Unless the speaker states otherwise, every talk will be recorded and available online in the day following the event, only for the participants.

What happens with my intellectual property when I submit a project?

The purpose of this challenge is not to create solutions for commercial purposes. Considering this, all projects submitted by a team should be open-source so that all members of the community may benefit from all solutions proposed in the challenge.

How are the winners selected?

The winners will be decided by a group of judges carefully selected that will assess the submissions based on the criteria defined and on a pitch session on February 22, 2021.

When will the winners be announced?

The winners will be announced online during the Partners Kick off on February 25 and on the TAIKAI challenge page, as well as in the OutSystems Community.

Where can I ask my questions about the challenge?

Before the hackathon, you can send questions and comments to the [email protected]

Once your team has been selected, all members will be added to the hackathon Slack Workspace where you will be able to communicate with the organizers, tech support and nonprofits. The first week of the hackathon will be dedicated to learning more about the challenges and getting in touch with the nonprofits.

Is there a Code of Conduct?

We expect our participants to treat all our participants, mentors, and judges with respect at all times, behave appropriately, and safely and follow the OutSystems Hackathon Code of Conduct.
