Are KYC procedures used to detect fake identities?

Various tools and technological solutions are being developed to verify and detect false identities. There are different stages in performing identity verification.

About  the CBCG  Fintech  Hackathon

The CBCG FinTech Hackathon represents a 48-hour regional competition in the field of application of financial technologies which will be held for the second year in a row, in an online format. The competition is organized by the Central Bank of Montenegro in cooperation with the Montenegrin ICT cluster ICT Cortex and the Association of Montenegrin Banks. As it was the case with the first CBCG FinTech Hackathon, it is expected that this year's Hackathon will be a useful experience for the participants, offering exceptional opportunities for progress and networking.

Who can participate in the CBCG Fintech Hackathon?

The intention of the Central Bank of Montenegro is to gather teams of programmers, marketers, designers, startup enthusiasts, and other creative persons, who will be challenged to design software solutions with great potential in the financial and banking markets, thanks to which citizens, as end users, will have easier access to financial and other institutions. Citizens of Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia have the right to participate in the competition. Teams should be made up of citizens living in the Western Balkans region. 

Tell us more about steps to the selection process

All registered teams will go through a pre-selection process, after which the outcome will be communicated to all registered teams. Five teams will be selected to enter the final stage of the competition.

How much does it cost?

The CBCG Fintech Hackathon is free for all selected candidates.

Can we register as a company?

No. Candidates must register as a team.

Do you pay for the attendees' transportation and/or accommodation costs?

No. The Hackathon will be held online. The entire process - from application to shortlisting, as well as final voting, will take place via the online platform for Hackathon TAIKAI. However, to shortlisted teams, ICT Cortex offers its offices for the teamwork during Hackathon 7-9 October 2022. at Bild studio, 33 Romanovih, Podgorica, Montenegro.  

Will there be a live stream from the event?

Yes, live streaming of pitching and the award-winning ceremony will be available.
