Description

About us: The STS Roundtable is a non-profit working at the intersection of people and technology. Our mission is to sustain a learning community that applies socio-technical systems theory and practice to solve organization design challenges in a digital world — empowering employees to do good work with tech and AI through sociotechnical design. We run monthly events and currently have around 50 members, and our web presence is a WordPress-based site.

The problem: Everything about membership is currently managed in a single spreadsheet: who’s a member, their contact details, whether they’ve paid the annual USD 50 fee, and who’s signed up for each event. This manual approach is error-prone and time-consuming: dues go unchased, renewal status is unclear, and event sign-ups have to be collected and reconciled by hand every month. As the organization grows, the spreadsheet is becoming a bottleneck.

What we need: A simple membership platform, connected to our existing WordPress website, that would let us:

  • Maintain a central member directory (contact details, join date, status)
  • Track annual USD 50 dues — who has paid, who is due, with automated renewal reminders
  • Manage sign-ups for our monthly events, including attendance and capacity
  • Send announcements to the right members
  • A place for members to communicate and connect with each other
  • Give our small volunteer team a clear, at-a-glance view instead of a sprawling spreadsheet

Impact: For an organization our size, this would recover hours of admin time each month and make membership and dues far more reliable, directly strengthening our ability to keep the Roundtable running and growing.
