The problem

Women experiencing domestic violence often don’t know where to start. Help exists, but it’s spread across many services, and looking for it can feel unsafe, especially on a phone someone else might check.

Our idea

First Light is a trauma-informed app that helps women find the right help, quickly and safely. There’s no sign-up and no need to say who you are. Whether she needs help right now or wants to explore her options, a few simple questions lead her to services for safety, somewhere to stay, money, legal help and emotional support, with one tap to call.

Designed for safety

• Quick exit on every screen
• Private by default: nothing is kept unless she chooses
• She can describe her situation in her own words. AI helps understand it, she checks what was understood, and clear rules, not AI, decide what she’s shown
• Calm, simple language and accessible design

How we’re building it

Built on OutSystems Developer Cloud, using AWS AI services and Twilio.
