The problem

Notas de Contacto is OCP's inclusive ensemble for adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities, active since 2009 in partnership with CERCIOEIRAS. The musicians read animated graphic scores on tablets: coloured diamonds for the sounds to play, countdowns for entries, photos that show who plays and how.

The team draws these scores by hand. Their latest piece, "Casa", is a 19-minute frame-by-frame animation with 480 distinct screens, exported as a video. Changing a section or a musician means redrawing frames, the tempo is fixed, and every tablet is started by hand at the same moment. They cannot rely on Wi-Fi at concert venues.

What we will build

- A score editor: the team composes with the same visual language, as events in time instead of drawn frames.

- A player that draws the score live on each tablet and works offline on stage. It also runs in the browser.

- A master mode: one tablet controls every tablet in sync (start, stop, jump to a section, slower tempo for rehearsal) and chooses what each one shows: the whole ensemble, one musician, or a selection.

AI

An assistant in the editor drafts sections from plain-language descriptions. The team reviews every draft before using it. On stage, nothing depends on AI or internet. We will confirm the AI scope after the kickoff.
