🤔 FAQS

What is Landing.Jobs Data Challenge?

Every year Landing.jobs launches the Tech Careers Report, an immersive report  on the portuguese community of tech professionals that analyses salaries, motivations and other dimensions in the tech market in Portugal. This year, besides the Report, we want to improve the quality of the insights on this data by challenging everyone in the Portuguese Data Science Community to create the best analysis and insights they can based on this survey’s raw data collected and made available (obviously anonymized). We strongly believe this community effort will improve the overall knowledge produced by this report, helping everyone have more and better information to support better decisions about their careers. The submitted analysis will be evaluated by both the community and a selected jury, and the top 3 analysis will earn prizes.

How much does it cost?

Landing.Jobs Data Challenge is free for anyone who wants to participate.

Who can participate in the challenge?

The challenge is open to anyone with a creative or technical profile. People from different fields and with experience in data related fields are more than welcome to participate.

Are the other participants able to see my project details?

Not during the competition. The published projects and draft projects are only visible to you and judges, thus no one is able to copy or clone your project resources to use on their submission. After the competition is finished and the results are revealed, the project details become visible to anyone who visits the platform.

How can I submit a project?

After your registration, you'll find a button to “Create a project”. Add a name and description. It will also be on your project page where you will showcase some of the deliverables required throughout the Challenge. Don't forget to click on "Publish" to have your project visible to the jury and organization. You can do as many changes as you need until the submission deadline.

What are the deliverables for this challenge?

A submitted Analysis Project should contain the following items:

  • Title

  • Abstract: summarizing the main analytical process used and an highlight of the main conclusions reached

  • Results presentation: A brief presentation of the Analysis (less than 4 slides), with screenshots, text descriptions, tables, etc. Please keep this simple, so everyone gets it

  • Technical artifacts: We need a way to replicate your results :) Hence, we’ll need access to a GitHub repository and necessary instructions to run through your analysis.

  • Non-cheating declaration: An honour declaration stating you/your team refrained from cheating, faking, thieving identity or any other technique to change the result of the contest.

  • Important notice regarding intellectual property: everything you’ll do is obviously your property, but note that you’ll need to publicly share all the items above.

Remember to describe and detail your ideias and project description. This will make it easier for the judges to evaluate it. Use an illustrative and clear approach to showcase your solution and highlight its contribution and added value to the defined challenge and add any other relevant documentation your project may require.

Is English the official language?

All the communication of the Challenge is done in English and the challenge is indeed a global initiative so it is strongly recommended to use English in your project.

How are winners selected?

The winners are selected by a group of judges selected by the organization and by the general tech community. They will evaluate the project submissions based on the criteria defined. Each judge will have a limited amount of KAI tokens to invest and back the eligible projects. The final result is going to be produced based on the amount of KAIs received by each project.
