Rules and Terms

1. Date and Agenda

The Sonant AI InsureTech Hackathon will take place on November 7–8, 2025, at Fintech House, Lisbon.

The event runs non-stop for 24 hours fully focused on hands-on building. Check the agenda at Timeline tab for more details.


2. Application and Confirmation

2.1. Registration

Participation is free but limited and subject to a refundable deposit. All participants must register individually through Taikai. Once accepted, you'll receive a confirmation email with event details and access instructions.

2.2. Refundable Deposit

The deposit to confirm your Hacker spot will be fully refunded if you attend the hackathon and actively participate in the challenge. To qualify, you must check in during registration on Day 1 and submit a valid project by the end of Day 2.

2.3. Teams

Teams can have minimum 2 and maximum 3 members. You can also register solo and we'll help match you with a team.


3. General Information

3.1. Meals

All meals, snacks, and coffee are provided throughout the event . We've got you covered so you can focus on building.

3.2. Facilities

Participants will have access to:

  • 24h workspace;
  • Wi-Fi and power outlets;
  • Mentorship and support desk.


4. Hackathon

4.1. Check-in and Opening ceremony

Check-in will start at 03:00 pm, so that all hackers can be settled by 06:00 pm for Hackathon start. The opening briefing will introduce the challenge and partners, as well as giving information useful for throughout the hackathon.

4.2. Theme

The hackathon focuses on AI Voice and Agents in the InsureTech sector.

You'll be challenged to design and prototype innovative solutions that make Insurance smarter. An Idea Pool will be shared with participants to spark inspiration and guide initial brainstorming.

4.3. Platforms

The hackathon will be hosted on Taikai, where teams can manage project pages, submissions, judging, and results.

Communication and support throughout the event will take place on Discord, the central hub for announcements, mentorship, and networking with other participants.

4.4. Mentorship

Throughout the event, technical mentors from our technical team will be available to help with whatever you need, whether you're looking for hands-on guidance, such as help troubleshooting technical challenges, refining your project, and providing feedback, or just want to network and connect with experienced professionals from the InsurTech and AI ecosystem.

4.5. Project submission

The submission deadline is: Saturday, November 8th 2025 at 06:00 pm. Further details will be updated closer to the event.

4.6. Pitch and Judging Criteria

Pitch sessions will take place shortly after the submission deadline. Each team will have a few minutes to present their project followed by a short Q&A.

More details about the pitch schedule and format will be shared closer to the event.

4.7. Prizes and Closing ceremony

Top 3 teams will receive some juicy prizes, soon to be announced.

Winners will be announced at 07:30 pm, right before the Closing Ceremony at 08:00 pm.


5. Terms and Conditions

5.1. Safety and prohibited objects

Participants are expected to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Any form of discrimination, harassment, or possession of dangerous materials will result in disqualification and removal.

Prohibited objects:

  • alcohol purchased outside the venue;
  • drugs or illegal substances;
  • animals (except service animals such as guide dogs);
  • firearms and any object that could be used as a weapon;
  • unauthorized promotional, commercial, political, religious, or offensive items of any kind, including clothing, banners, signs, symbols, and leaflets or flyers;
  • any other object that may be considered dangerous and capable of causing public nuisance  and/or that may be used to distract, obstruct, or interfere with the course of the event or with any participant.

If a participant has one or more prohibited items, the Organization reserves the right to immediately expel that member and, if necessary, report them to the competent authorities.

5.2. Legitimacy of Presented Projects

Projects must be developed during the hackathon period. Pre-existing codebases, except for public libraries or open APIs, are not allowed.

5.3. Image rights

By joining, participants authorize the event organizers to use photos, videos, and materials from the event for promotional purposes.

5.4. Share hacker data with sponsors

By joining, participants authorize the event organizers to share hacker's data with the sponsors, such as name, email and project.

5.5. Violation of Terms and Conditions

The participant acknowledges and agrees that any breach of these rules may lead to:

  • be denied entry to the venue;
  • be expelled from the venue;
  • have their registration with Sonant Hackathon canceled without refund or compensation;
  • be reported to the competent authorities.
