<h2>📖  RULES</h2><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><h3>Who Can Participate?</h3><p><br /></p><p>This hackathon is open to OutSystems Developers who would like to practice their skills in ODC and those new to OutSystems who are willing to learn and make a difference. OutSystems will assist in training for newcomers.</p><p>Teams should be composed of a minimum of one and a maximum of five team members. We recommend building a diverse team that covers a wide spectrum of skills: developer, tech lead, UX/UI designer, and product owner. However, teams are free to choose any combination. Participants are also encouraged to form teams with a diversity of gender, region, skill levels, seniority, and more. In our experience, team diversity has significant benefits, especially in a hackathon.</p><p>Teams will have an amazing opportunity to bring the nonprofit that they would like to support. This can be an organization they already have a relationship with, a local or global nonprofit, that would benefit from an OutSystems license. If they do not have a nonprofit partner, we will be available to suggest some of the organizations that were nominated for the Digital Volunteers Program.</p><p><br /></p><p>If you would like to know more and need clarification, reach out to the hackathon team via <a href="mailto:makeadifference@outsystems.com">makeadifference@outsystems.com</a></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><h3>Registration Rules</h3><p><br /></p><p>Each team member must use the TAIKAI platform to register as an innovator, and the team lead selected by the team will then create a Project and add their team “innovators” to the project.</p><p>Team names should include the company name (if all members are coming from the same organization) and another identifying noun. For example, an OutSystems team might use “OutSystems Geeks” or “OutSystems Warriors.” </p><p>Make sure you have all the relevant information before registering:</p><ol><li><p>All team members on board and the selected Team Lead</p></li><li><p>Team name</p></li><li><p>The nonprofit you will bring to the hackathon (optional)</p></li></ol><pre><strong>Important steps to confirm your team registration</strong></pre><p><strong>Step 1: </strong>Registrations are valid once a project is created with a maximum of 5 members in the Taikai platform and published. </p><p><strong>Step 2:</strong> To confirm your participation, once the team is formed the team lead needs to send an email to makeadifference@outsystems.com in order to get access to the hackathon ODC environment. The email should be sent by August 20, and contain the following information:</p><ul><li>Team lead name, email address, and country</li><li>Each member's name, email address, and country</li><li>Name of the team</li><li>Nonprofit name (if applicable)</li></ul><p>Access to the ODC platform will be made available by OutSystems after the registrations close. </p><p><em>Important</em>: By registering for the event you agree to adhere to the code of conduct.</p><h3><br /></h3><h3>Challenge Selection</h3><p><br /></p><p>Teams will have the freedom to build an app they desire, ideally align with the nonprofit they would like to support (if applicable). Each application built will be evaluated based on criteria presented during the hackathon kick-off. This means that leveraging new ODC features as well as the creativity, uniqueness and innovation you bring to your solution will bring you most of the points. </p><p>You can consult with your partner nonprofit organization for ideas on how to develop relevant solutions. Your solution can also use the brand and the cause related to the nonprofit. </p><p><br /></p><h3>Timeline</h3><p><br /></p><p>Registration for the hackathon will be open from <strong>June 3, 2023, until August 20, 2023. </strong></p><p><br /></p><p>Live Hackathon Kick-off is scheduled for <strong>September 1, 2023</strong>, and all participants are invited to join. Apart from introductions, this is where the hackathon team will present the challenge and requirements for the solution. Make sure at least one of your team members attends. </p><p>Teams will have six days to work on their solution - <strong>1</strong><strong>-7 September 2023</strong>. </p><p>The jury will evaluate all of the submissions and select three winners that will be announced during the OutSystems ONE Conference in Lisbon. </p><p><br /></p><h3>Submissions</h3><p><br /></p><pre><strong>Mid Submission (Optional)</strong></pre><p>On Day 3 of the hackathon, a team can submit a document defining:</p><ul><li><p>Problem statement</p></li><li><p>Use case description</p></li><li><p>Integration planned for using </p></li></ul><p><br /></p><pre>Final submission</pre><p>Teams are asked to make final work submissions until September 7, 2023, 11:59 PM CET.  </p><p>Only completed submissions will be considered for evaluation. </p><p>Submission should contain a description of the project (document) and the video demoing your app with the following criteria:</p><ul><li><p>Maximum duration 5 min</p></li><li><p>Video should be submitted on the last day of the hackathon under your project (you can add links so you can use public google drive link, youtube link or any other publicly available platform)</p></li><li><p>The video should contain walk through the app (an experience that the jury can replicate)</p></li><li><p>The video should show off the features that are aligned with the selection criteria</p></li></ul><p><br /></p><p>The jury will base their evaluation on the demo video you provide, accessing the app, replicating the experience, and analyzing the technical aspects. </p><p><br /></p><h3>Selection criteria</h3><p><br /></p><p>The selection of the winning applications will be based on the following criteria: </p><ol><li><p>Technical </p></li></ol><p>Application of the ODC features presented during the kick-off of the hackathon.</p><ol><li><p>UX/UI quality </p></li></ol><p>User experience/user interface is an essential aspect of each app.</p><ol><li><p>Innovation of the solution</p></li></ol><p>Any innovative features you bring to your app will bring you some extra points. Take time to figure out what will make your solution unique and modern. </p><ol><li><p>Demo quality </p></li></ol><p>The final video provides the opportunity to present all the app features in an engaging and exciting way. The submission has a firm time limit of five minutes in length. </p><h3><br /></h3><h3><strong>Intellectual Property, Compliance, and Solution Implementation</strong></h3><p><br /></p><p>In consideration of your participation in the Hackathon, you agree to license and contribute any and all intellectual property and other proprietary rights in and to the software, code, designs, inventions, ideas, materials, documentation, concepts, workflows, and any other items you write, create, develop, provide, contribute or make available in respect of your participation in and to the Hackathon and related activities (“Works”) to the public (including OutSystems) pursuant to a permissive open source license, such as an MIT- or BSD-style license. You hereby warrant, represent and undertake that (i) the Works are entirely your own work and not the work of any third party, or if the work of any third party or if including the work of a third party, that you have a license or other sufficient rights or permission from the owner to satisfy your obligations hereunder (and have provided any permissions or acknowledgements as required) and (ii) you have the necessary rights (including from any employer or academic institution with which you are associated) to grant the rights and licenses you are granting hereunder and to otherwise comply with these Rules. You further agree that you will keep confidential all information of a confidential nature or which is proprietary to OutSystems, which is disclosed to you under or pursuant to the Hackathon, and not disclose it to any third party.</p><p><br /></p>

<h2><br /></h2><h2>Ready for the biggest and most impactful OutSystems low-code hackathon?</h2><p><br /></p><p>The OutSystems Build for the Future Hackathon partners OutSystems developers with nonprofit organizations to build unique applications impacting communities in need, is back for a second round.</p><p><br /></p><p>The goal of the hackathon is to raise awareness about different causes worldwide and help nonprofits achieve their goals and support their communities. Teams will be building impactful apps using the OutSystems ODC platform. Hackathon entries will be evaluated by the creativity and innovation brought to the solution. This global virtual hackathon will take place in the first week of September 2023 for a duration of 6 days.
