What is Lisbon DAO Hackathon?

Lisbon DAO Hackathon is a legal and tech hackathon organised by Lisbon DAO Observatory in collaboration with TAIKAI, AstroDAO and Dcentral Lab. This Hackathon is a call to the legal and tech communities to join forces to solve challenges that will require sharp legal and tech thinking, drawing broader conclusions about DAOs, their organisation, their purpose and their current and future legal status.

Who can attend Lisbon DAO Hackathon?

Each team must have between 3-10 members and must be composed of at least one member with a tech background and another member with a legal background.

As for the legal background, everyone is welcome, from students to qualified lawyers and academics! The only recommended requirement is for students to be at least in the last year of their degree. Besides that, what matters is your potential and your passion for law and/or technology, no matter your level of experience.

How much does it cost?

Lisbon DAO Hackathon is free for all participants.

Can I register our company employees in bulk?

No. Participants must register individually.

Do you pay for the attendees' transportation and/or accommodation costs?

No. However, there may be discounts and other partnerships. If so, these will be announced in the weeks leading to the event, so make sure you follow us in one of the social networks where we're present. You can also choose to sleep in the venue. This one is guaranteed, with some caveats (see below).

Can I bring a guest to the event?

No. All attendees must register individually.

When will the schedule be available?

A detailed schedule will be available closer to the event, on our website.

Do I need to be in Lisbon to participate in the Lisbon DAO Hackathon?

At least one member per team must be at the venue to pitch the solutions for the challenges. The rest of the members can participate remotely if they so wish, though we would love to have as many people as possible in person in order to facilitate connections and exchange of ideas.

Does that mean I can invite someone who's not registered?

No. The other members in your team must also be attendees. And to be attendees they must register for the event (individually).

What if I do not have a team?

You can find other attendees to team up in the Matchmaking option available in the TAIKAI platform. There you can also can find attendees, if your team lacks members with tech or legal background.

Is there food and beverages at the event?

Food and drinks will be provided free for all attendees. We'll be providing dinner on the first day, and there will be random snacks and beverages available 24/7.

Why is the official language English?

Although most of our participants are from Portugal, we have attendees coming from all over the world. English is usually well understood and accepted.

Do I get a participation certificate at the end?

Yes, we can provide participation certificates on demand in the days following Lisbon DAO Hackathon. Just make sure you actually participate.

Is there Wi-Fi at the event?

Of course. The password will be shared in the event.

Will there be other activities?

The main activity is, of course, the legal and tech challenges, where your team works on a solution during the event and presents it on stage on the second and final day. While the jury is evaluating the solutions, there will be some Talks that will be announced closer to the event.

Since English is the official language, should my talk be given in English?

English is the official language, yes, but it's optional for participants and speakers. If you're not comfortable (enough) with delivering a talk in english, you can choose to deliver it in Portuguese instead. You could also choose Klingon, or Goa'uld, but it makes sense to choose a language that at least a few people in the audience would be able to understand… ;)

I am interested in exhibiting or becoming a sponsor, what do I do?

If you are interested in sponsoring Lisbon DAO Hackathon, please contact us at [email protected].

Can I leave a few flyers on the tables to advertise my group/event/company?

That would depend on what you're advertising. The only hard rule on this is that you talk to us first at .
