What is NEAR - Inter-University Hacker House?

NEAR - Inter-University Hacker House is 1-day event, on the 13th of March.  With talks, workshops, competitions, and coding, and a networking event with some pizza and beers to complete the day!


Who can attend NEAR - Inter-University Hacker House?

NEAR - Inter-University Hacker House can be attended by everybody who would like to learn about Hackathons and participate in a mini-Hackathon. 


What time does the NEAR Hackathon start, and when is the registration period?

The NEAR Hackathon kicks off on 13th March 2024. Registration and networking, accompanied by coffee and biscuits, begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 10:30 AM.


What can I expect during the Opening Ceremony, and why is there a focus on handing out socks?

The Opening Ceremony, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, includes a welcome address and an agenda introduction. There will be a discussion on the significance of handing out socks at a Hackathon. NEAR representatives and NFT Soho will be introduced, shedding light on the purpose of the event.


What is the content of Workshop 1 on Blockchain Coding?

From 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM, Owen will lead Workshop 1, covering the basics of blockchain technology and its applications, particularly building on NEAR. The session includes discussions on Account Abstraction and hands-on exercises, encouraging audience participation. Bounties will also be introduced during this workshop.


What is provided during the Morning Break and Lunch?

The Morning Break, from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM, offers biscuits, coffee, water, and soft drinks. Lunch and Networking, from 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM, include salad, soup, sandwiches, and various beverage options (allergies/veggie/meat preferences are considered).


What is Workshop 2 about, and how can different roles contribute to Hackathon teams?

Workshop 2, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, focuses on how different roles can contribute to Hackathon teams, leading to team formation. Bounties of $250 paid in stablecoins are introduced, with prizes for all participants. Submission requirements include a GitHub repo, a demo (Versel or screencast), and a team progress report (1000 characters or less).


What does Workshop 3 cover during the Ideation and Coding Session?

From 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, Workshop 3 provides a hands-on session on creating and deploying smart contracts. Experienced instructors will lead a Q&A and troubleshooting session.


What's in store for the Networking and Social Event from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM?

The day concludes with a Networking and Social Event featuring Beers and Pizza, soft drinks, and sweets for dessert, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.


How much does it cost?

NEAR - Inter-University Hacker House is free for all attendees.

Do you pay for the atendees' transportation and/or accomodation costs?

No, these costs cannot be covered.

Do I have to participate in hackathon competition?

No. But we do encourage you to participate in something during the event, and not just passively roam around the venue. Fortunately, there are plenty of activities to choose from.


Will the talks be recorded?

The talks will not be recorded and there will not be a livestream event. 


Is there food and beverages at the event?

Food and drinks will be provided free for all attendees.


Will the Wi-Fi be any good?

The million-dollar question… The organization will provide a wi-fi during the event that should be sufficient for all tasks. 


Are there prizes for participating?

Every team submission receives $250 paid in stablecoins.
