<h2>What is CarbonHack22?</h2><p>The Carbon Hack is a new annual contest hosted by the Green Software Foundation, a non-profit organization. A three week hackathon sponsored by GSF member organizations Accenture, Avanade, BCG, Globant, Goldman Sachs, Intel, Thoughtworks, UBS and VMware, with total prize money of USD 100k. The winners of the 3 weeks event will be announced on the 10th November.</p><p><br /></p><h2>Who can attend Carbon Hack 22?</h2><p>Carbon Hack 22 is targeted at creative minds with a hacker spirit (in the classical definition of the word). Anyone with a technical profile is welcome to apply, not only engineers (eg. web designers are welcome too).</p><p><br /></p><h2>How much does it cost?</h2><p>There are no fees for participation as a contender. </p><p><br /></p><h2>How to pitch?</h2><p>To wrap up the three weeks of work, the hackathon will end with pitches of your creations. Pitches are composed of two main parts which mostly override one another in the content but have different formats: </p><p><br /></p><h3>I. Video pitch </h3><p>For the video part, you have two strict requirements: </p><ul><li><p>no longer than 2 minutes</p></li><li><p>uploaded to Taikai's platform when submitting the project</p></li></ul><p>For the rest, it is up to you, but we recommend structuring the video into 4 parts: 1. the problem, 2. the solution, 3. what you accomplished and 4. finally what you are planning to do next. </p><p>So you have 2 minutes to cover 4 topics. We suggest dedicating about 30 seconds for each topic, but you are free to be more flexible. When showing off the demo, we recommend you not doing a walkthrough and focusing on the 2-3 features that help the user the most. Ignore the little animations and profile structures. </p><p>The video will have to be submitted alongside to your project page on Taikai by midnight 4th November. </p><p><br /></p><h3>II. Textual pitch submission on Taikai</h3><p>Composed of answer to 7 questions that you should prepare in advance before submitting to Taikai: </p><ul><li><p>The problem your project solves</p></li><li><p>The solution you bring to the table</p></li><li><p>What you have done during the weekend</p></li><li><p>The solution’s impact to the </p></li><li><p>The necessities in order to continue the project</p></li><li><p>The value of your solution(s) </p></li><li><p>The URL to the prototype [Github, Website,...]</p></li></ul><p>This needs to be submitted, alongside the video by Midnight on Friday 4th November.</p><p><br /></p><h2>Can I register our company employees in bulk?</h2><p>No. Candidates must register and apply individually.</p><p><br /></p><h2>How do I create a project?</h2><p>See https://docs.taikai.network/participant/create-project</p><p><br /></p><h2>I don't currently have a team, how do I find people interested in working with me?</h2><p>Using the hackathon’s Participant page, you can look for teammates and send team-up requests to whomever interests you. If by Monday 10th October you still do not have a team - fear nothing, we will have a matchmaking session at this time on Discord. The channel for that will be #brainmarket.</p><p><br /></p><h2>Will there be a live stream from the event?</h2><p>Yes, live streaming will be available via Taikai's platform.</p><p><br /></p><h2>Will the sessions be recorded?</h2><p>Yes. All sessions will be available after the event. A link will be provided in the <strong>updates tab.</strong></p><p><br /></p><h2>Why is the official language English?</h2><p>English is usually well understood and accepted. Our main motivation is technology and talent, and these are global attributes, so our main 'language' is what we use to code. English is not the only language at the event, though. </p><p><br /></p><h2>Do I get a participation certificate at the end?</h2><p>Yes, we can provide participation certificates on demand in the days following Carbon Hack 22. Just make sure you actually participate and contact us on <a href="mailto:carbonhack22@greensoftware.foundation" target="_blank">carbonhack22@greensoftware.foundation</a> to request yours. </p><p><br /></p><h2>I'm a tech guy but I also do recruiting. Is it OK if I talk to someone at Carbon Hack 22 to see if they're interested in working with me?</h2><p>You cannot engage in direct recruitment activities during Carbon Hack 22. This is one of the core rules of the event. The attendees don't enjoy unsolicited targeting, and we don't want to turn the event into a battlefield for hires. Trust us, it's better for you, not only for attendees. Having said this, it's OK if the interest is mutual and both parties want to talk (meaning the attendee approaches you). That would likely include code, but it is not limited to it. We encourage participation of any type as we are looking for creative and innovative solutions to green software. Publish the project with a title and a short description. Once you have published the project, you can use the <strong>matchmaking tab </strong>to find team members. Project teams in this hackathon can be both made before the hack, or made during the beginning of the hack. We recommend the maximum number of team members to 5.</p><p><br /></p><h3>What to submit</h3><p>We are looking for tangible ideas that can either be applied right away or such that have a clear completion roadmap for a significant long term contribution. To wrap up the three weeks of work, the hackathon will end with pitches of your creations. Use the following guidelines.
