<h3>1) What is ETHRome?</h3><p>ETHRome is an international hackathon for web3 builders happening from 17th to 19th October 2025 in Rome (IT), TAG Ostense, Via Ostiense 92. The hackathon is focused on AI, Finance and Privacy technologies.</p><h3>2) What are the tracks at ETHRome?</h3><p>ETHRome has three tracks:</p><ul><li>Privacy</li><li>AI&lt;&gt;Web3</li><li>Finance</li></ul><p>All of them follow the same submission and judging process. Among all the projects, 6 in total will be selected as finalists and will be able to do a live demo on stage during the Closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon.</p><h3>3) Who can attend ETHRome?</h3><p>ETHRome welcomes participants from all backgrounds, whether they are developers, designers, or have other skill sets. Applicants to participate are evaluated based on their interest and experience within the Ethereum ecosystem, as well as their demonstrated ability to build and create - whether that involves software development, designing user experiences, or other talents. If you are under 18 years of age, a parental consent form will be required to participate</p><h3>4) How much does it cost to attend?</h3><p>Admission to the event is completely free, thanks to the money invested by our sponsors. Participants will receive a weekend's worth of swag, including t-shirts and other items, as well as meals, drinks, and snacks to keep them fueled throughout the event. Additionally, a place to rest and recharge will be provided for participants who need a break from coding. This ensures that all participants have the resources they need to focus on creating innovative solutions to the challenges presented at the event. We are committed to making this event accessible to all, regardless of financial means, and are grateful to our sponsors for their support in making this possible.</p><h3>5) Is there a conference at ETHRome? Are there any side events?</h3><p>ETHRome is only a hackathon but we are organizing a series of non-technical side events.</p><h3>6) Who are the ETHRome sponsors?</h3><p>You can check all the ETHRome sponsors on the website (https://ethrome.org) and also on</p><h3>7) What are the ETHRome bounties?</h3><p>The allocation of bounties depends solely on the sponsors. No judge or ETHRome organizers are responsible for their allocation and the way they are awarded.</p><h3>8) What are the ETHRome hackathon rules?</h3><p>ETHRome hackathon has the following rules:</p><ul><li>Hacker teams are made up of a maximum of 5 people (you can also hack solo);</li><li>At least 50% of the members of the team must physically be at ETHRome in order to present the submission to the judges;</li><li>The hackathon has a 39-hour duration: from 6:00 PM CET on Friday to 9:00 AM CET on Sunday. Judging and award ceremonies to follow;</li><li>Each project should adhere to one of the two tracks (check below for more details about each track)<ul><li>Privacy</li><li>AI&lt;&gt;Web3</li><li>Finance</li></ul></li><li>In addition to the track, hackers will be able to select sponsor bounties to apply to. All bounties can theoretically be used in all tracks. The allocation of bounties depends solely on the sponsors. No judge or ETHRome organizers are responsible for their allocation and the way they are awarded.</li></ul><h3>9) What is the policy for pre-existing projects at ETHRome? Are they allowed?</h3><p>Our policy on existing projects at ETHRome is that a team may bring in an existing project provided that:</p><ul><li>The team must explicitly communicate at the submission that they are working on an existing project;</li><li>The team must develop new functionalities or extensions of the project, and that part only will be considered during the judging process;</li><li>The team must not create a new repository and "single commit" all their code: instead, the team must make their existing repository public and work on it. Only the commits after the ETHRome starting period will be considered during the judging process;</li><li>The team's project must be born at another hackathon and all previous iterations of the same project at previous hackathons must be linked in the submission. Existing projects that did not come into existence during previous hackathons are not allowed.</li></ul><h3>10) How does judging work?</h3><p>These are the minimum requirements to be judged</p><ul><li>A link to the open-source code must be provided (e.g. an open Github repository)</li><li>If applicable, the contract address(es) of your deployed demo must be provided, either on a testnet of your choice or mainnet of a platform of choice</li><li>A link to a walkthrough video (or demo) of max 3 minutes that shows what you built</li></ul><p>The judging process consists of two steps:</p><ul><li>Code and live demo showcase (submission deadline is 9:00 AM (CET))</li><li>Each team will have a maximum 7-minute slot with the judges (4 mins demo + 3 mins Q&amp;A). Hackers will have to present their projects and answer questions from the judges. Hackers are only allowed to show a live demo of their project.</li><li>Winning teams will have the chance to run a live demo during the closing cerimony</li></ul><h3>11) Can I apply to multiple tracks?</h3><p>Yes</p><h3>12) Can I apply to multiple bounties?</h3><p>Yes, you can apply to multiple bounties (but you can’t apply to multiple tracks!).</p><h3>13) When is the project submission at ETHRome?</h3><p>The submission deadline is 9:00 AM (Europe / Rome time) on 19th of October</p><h3>14) Can I participate remotely?</h3><p>Yes, you can participate remotely but at least 50% members of your team have to be in place in Rome.</p>

<h2><strong>Hackathon Rules</strong></h2><h3><strong>Application</strong></h3><p>Only hackers who have received email acceptance can participate in the hackathon.</p><p>Hacking Rules</p><ul><li>Hacker teams are made up of a maximum of 5 people;</li><li>All projects developed during ETHRome must be open-source;</li><li>At least 50% members of the team must physically be at ETHRome in order to present the submission to the judges;</li><li>The hackathon has a 39-hour duration: from 6:00 PM CET on Friday to 09:00 AM CET on Sunday. No judge or ETHRome organizers are responsible for their allocation and the way they are awarded.</li></ul><p>Pre-existing projects allowed</p><p>Our policy on existing projects is that a team may bring in an existing project provided that:</p><ul><li>The team must explicitly communicate in the Taikai submission that they are working on an existing project;</li><li>The team must develop new functionalities or extensions of the project, and that part only will be considered during the judging process;</li><li>The team must not create a new repository and "single commit" all their code: instead, the team must make their existing repository public and work on it. Only the commits after the ETHRome starting period will be considered during the judging process;</li><li>The team's project must be born at another hackathon and all previous iterations of the same project at previous hackathons must be linked in the submission. Existing projects that did not come into existence during previous hackathons are not allowed</li></ul><p>⚠️ If these conditions are not met the team will be categorically excluded from the hackathon and will not be eligible for the hackathon prizes or sponsor bounties.</p><p>🚫 Hackathon organizers, mentors, judges, and those involved will take extreme care to avoid fraudulent behavior by exploiting work already done that does not respect other hackers and the previously quoted rules.</p>

<h2>Prizes and Bounties</h2><p>There are three tracks proposed:</p><ul><li>Privacy Track</li><li>AI&lt;&gt;Web3 Track</li><li>Finance Track</li></ul><p>All of them follow the same submission and judging process. All the projects selected as finalists will be able to do a live demo on stage during the Closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Judges preserve a 7-day period to make the results of the two hackathon tracks official. If irregularities are found in the code repositories of any winning teams, the judges may exclude the team from the hackathon competition and not award the prize.</p><p>⚠️ The allocation of bounties depends solely on the sponsors. No judge or ETHRome organizers are responsible for their allocation and the way they are awarded.</p><p><br /></p><h3>Privacy Track</h3><p>Description</p><p>Hackers will explore the full potential of ZKP technologies, RPC and anonymity techniques to craft innovative applications that place privacy and security at the forefront of their designs. A unique opportunity for forward-thinking sponsors to gain exceptional exposure, establish valuable connections, and demonstrate support for the future of privacy.</p><p>Rules</p><p>The finalists’ projects in this category and each of them will have the chance to pitch on stage during the closing ceremony.</p><h3>Decentralized Finance</h3><p>Description</p><p>DeFi dapps is one of the most widely used tools in the web3 ecosystem. For the first time, we're challenging hackers to create something truly innovative!</p><p>Rules</p><p>The finalists’ projects in this category and each of them will have the chance to pitch on stage during the closing ceremony.</p><h3>AI&lt;&gt;Web3 Track</h3><p>Description</p><p>AI&lt;&gt;WEB3 integrations are becoming real and usable. We want hackers to dive into this emerging field to help foster the creation of ethical AI-powered dApps.</p><p>Rules</p><p>The finalists’ projects in this category and each of them will have the chance to pitch on stage during the closing ceremony.</p><h3>Sponsor Bounties</h3><p>Hackers are required to apply to one or more tracks. In addition to it, they can optionally apply to one or more sponsor bounties. All bounties can be compatible with either track.</p><p>The allocation of bounties depends solely on the sponsors. No judge or ETHRome organizers are responsible for their allocation and the way they are awarded.</p>
