<h2>ETHIstanbul Hackathon FAQ</h2>We’re excited to welcome you to ETHIstanbul, taking place September 5–7, 2025, in Istanbul. Here’s everything you need to know about logistics, registration, accommodation, food, and how to get the most out of the event.<h2>🔧 Logistics</h2>PlatformsWe use two platforms throughout the event:<ul><li>🟣 TAIKAI→ for registration, project submission, and judging</li><li>💬 Discord → for live support, mentor questions, and announcements</li></ul>🎟 Tickets<ul><li>Hacker participation is free, you just need to apply via <a href="https://taikai.network/" target="_blank">TAIKAI</a>.</li><li>Applications are reviewed and approved in waves every 2 weeks.</li></ul>📍 VenueVenue Name &amp; Address (TBD) 💤 Can I sleep at the venue?Yes, hackers can stay overnight on Friday and Saturday. We’ll have a designated chill zone with basic sleeping arrangements (no beds, no showers). Bring a sleeping bag, toothbrush, and warm clothes. We’ll do our best to make it comfortable.Lockers or a bag check area will be provided on-site. (TBD: update if confirmed.)🛏 Looking for a place to stay?Want a proper bed or interested in crashing with a local? Submitting pre-written code is not allowed.</li><li>Teams can have up to 5 members.</li><li>All team members must be physically present at the event.</li><li>One person from each team must be present at the venue during judging hours on Sunday.</li><li>You cannot copy, use, or submit another team’s code.</li><li>All projects must be submitted through Taikai before the deadline.</li><li>Bounties are awarded by our partners and distributed within 2 weeks after the event.</li><li>You must follow all instructions from ETHIstanbul organizers and volunteers.</li><li>Be respectful and kind, ETHIstanbul follows a strict Code of Conduct. <h2>🛠 Hackathon Rules &amp; Submission Format</h2> ⚠️ IMPORTANT⚠️ All submissions must be submitted through TAIKAI before the deadline. Once projects are submitted, hackers must do a presentation for each track that they have applied for. Please visit the "Timeline" page for more details.  <h3>📜 ETHIstanbul Hacking Rules</h3><ul><li>ETHIstanbul takes place in real life in Istanbul, Rami Library (for details <a href="https://ethistanbul.io" target="_blank">https://ethistanbul.io</a>).</li><li>In order for your submission to qualify for the hackathon, you must:<ul><li>hold a valid hacker ticket for ETHIstanbul,</li><li>complete your registration at the hackathon front desk after the start of the hacking time until saturday afternoon,</li><li>submit your project over Taikai (not draft, but final submission),</li><li>attend all presentation sessions and present your project.</li></ul></li><li>The hackathon lasts 2.5 days, and all hacking must be done in the hackathon time. You can brainstorm your idea and create your team before the hackathon, but you cannot code or work on the product design (UI / UX) before or after the hack time. This is very important, as you should stop coding and sending commits once the hacking time is over.</li><li>Once you complete your registration, you do not need to be in the hackathon area during the hacking time, but we strongly advice you the otherwise. You also need to give your presentation in real life in the hackathon area (in a special case an online presentation can be arranged, please contact our team if something of such occurs).</li><li>Each team can have at least 1, at most 5 participants. All of the stated work in the submission must be done by these team members, and using the work of additional team members that are not listed on Taikai is a reason to be disqualified. </li><li>You cannot use, copy, or submit another team's code. However, it is possible to use your own code that is written before the hackathon or someone else's open source code (or with their permission). Nevertheless, you need to explicitly mention all codes and similar that are not produced during the hacking time. If you show and use a code as if you have written it in the hacking time while this is not true, you may be disqualified and banned from the hackathon. Also, remember that only codes that are written during the hackathon are used in judging and receive points. </li><li>Judges’ decisions are final regarding all prizes and awards, but all award winning submissions will be inspected in detail after the hackathon by our team for potential fraud. If such a case occurs, then the submission will loose its place and the final rankings will be updated accordingly.</li><li>AI usage in coding is not prohibited, but strongly discouraged, as fully AI written code will not receive points for coding related criteria (such as code quality or technical competence). Thus, we only recommend you using AI in the parts of your project that are not crucial for your submission (such as UI).</li><li>In addition to the rules above, each track and bounty may have additional rules for your project to be considered eligible. You can find more about them in the "Prizes" section.</li><li>Please follow instructions from ETHIstanbul organizers and volunteers and comply with our <a href="https://ethistanbul.io/conduct" target="_blank">Code of Conduct.</a></li></ul> <h3>✅ Minimum Submission Requirements (To Be Judged)</h3><ul><li>A link to your open-source code repository.</li><li>A short demo video (max 90s) or a presentation (max 7 slides) clearly describing your project, its use case, and purpose.</li><li>If applicable, include the contract address(es) or website URLs of your deployed demo (testnet or mainnet accepted).</li></ul> <h3>💸 Bounties</h3><ul><li>The hackathon has 2 main track bounties. Additionally, there exist bounties that are provided by our sponsors. </li><li>A full list of active bounties is shared in the "Prizes" section.</li><li>Additional judging criteria and requirements for bounties can also be found under "Prizes". </li><li>All projects can apply for as many bounties as they wish with the same submission.
