Is the Hacker House Smartcon 2023 Challenges free?

Yes, the Hacker House Smartcon 2023 Challenges are completely free!

Be sure to bring your laptop so you can follow along.

Who can participate?

Anyone who got the Hacker House Ticket and did the Check-in.

However, participants who break the rules or don’t follow the Code of Conduct may be expelled.

Do I need a SmartCon ticket?

No. This is a separate event from the main SmartCon 2023 conference, so you don’t need a SmartCon ticket.

We encourage you to attend the main conference on October 2-3, which you can buy a ticket.

Where is the venue?

The venue is InterContinental Barcelona, Av. de Rius i Taulet, 1-3, 08004.

Can I win bounties at the Hacker House Smartcon 2023 Challenges?

Yes, we will have bounties available for hackers to build something based on certain technologies or use cases, with the best projects being awarded bounties. For these bounties, please take note that we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to withhold the distribution of prizes to recipients based on the results of Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.

Can I win bounties in more than one category?

YES!!!

Bounty hunting/stacking will be encouraged, meaning you can go after multiple bounties

(ie someone that used 3 services could technically win 15k)

How many people can be on a team?

2-5 people per team.

How do I make sure my project is eligible for hackathon prizes?

Projects that were not built at the hackathon are not eligible to receive a prize.

This includes projects that were built before the hackathon and projects that were submitted to past hackathons.

We work closely with our partners and sponsors to filter out these projects.

What if I've never been to a hackathon or worked with Chainlink before?

No worries! It’s helpful to have some software engineering experience, but it’s not a requirement.

Projects often need designers, front-end engineers, project managers, and more.

We will also have talks, workshops, and mentors to help you with your project.

This is a great place to learn about all things blockchains and smart contracts.

When can I start working on my project?

As soon as the hackathon opens.

To keep the playing field level, we don’t allow teams to begin building prior to the start of the hackathon.

If your project is an upgrade to an existing project, please check with us beforehand.

Do I need to record a video?

No, you do not need to record a video.

But you must do a 2 minutes live demo during the Hackers Presentations, Sunday, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The order of the teams will be announced 12:50 pm. Be ready!

Do we need to create a frontend or can we just use Remix for the demo? Are projects required to have a frontend?

Projects are not required to have a frontend. Remix is fine.

Do we also need to host the website somewhere externally?

No, localhost is fine, if you need it.

All you must do is a live demo.

Who owns the IP to the submitted projects?

The team behind each project holds the IP of their project.

What is Chainlink?

Chainlink is the industry standard for building, accessing, and selling oracle services needed to power hybrid smart contracts on any blockchain.

Chainlink oracle networks provide smart contracts with a way to reliably connect to any external API and leverage secure off-chain computations for enabling feature-rich applications.

Chainlink currently helps secure tens of billions of dollars across DeFi, insurance, gaming, and other major industries, and offers global enterprises and leading data providers a universal gateway to all blockchains.
