<h2>10<sup>th</sup> CASSINI Hackathon: EU Space for Consumer Experience</h2><p>The 10th edition of the CASSINI Hackathon challenges participants to leverage European space technologies to reimagine consumer experiences in gaming, sports, and tourism. This event brings together coders, problem-solvers, and innovators from across Europe to develop cutting-edge solutions that can transform entertainment, enhance sports performance, and create smarter and more sustainable travel experiences.</p><p>Take part in this brand new edition of the CASSINI Hackathons and get the chance to win one of three overall prizes: cash prizes of up to 5.000€ and 6 months of expert mentoring from notable professionals in the space industry! PRIZES</h3><p><span>This is your chance!</span> <strong>At the CASSINI Hackathons, you have the chance to win twice<span class="fr-emoticon fr-deletable fr-emoticon-img" style="background:url(https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/emojione/2.0.1/assets/svg/270c.svg)"> </span>. </strong>First at a local level and second at the European level.</p><p><strong>Local prizes -</strong> Each hackathon location has its own unique set of prizes for the local winners and runner-ups. Take a look at what you can win at the local level by checking the subpages of the local hackathons.</p><p><strong>Overall prize -</strong> At the European level, the three top hackathon teams will win the big cash prize of <strong>9.000€</strong> in total (1st place:<strong> 5.000€,</strong> 2nd place:<strong> 3.000€, </strong>3rd place:<strong> 1.000€</strong>) and get access to the CASSINI Mentoring, a 6-month mentoring programme that includes <strong>100 hours of mentoring</strong> <strong>by top experts</strong> and is designed to turn your hackathon project into a successful business.</p><p><br /></p><h3 class="fr-text-uppercase">3. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?</h3><p>Students, entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, researchers, and others are welcome to participate. JUDGING CRITERIA</h3><p>Both at the local level and the European level your solutions will be judged against three simple criteria.</p><ol><li><strong>Relevance (33%) - </strong>Does the project address one of the hackathon's three challenges? Does the project make use of Copernicus, Galileo and/or EGNOS data and signals?</li><li><strong>Innovativeness (33%) - </strong>How innovative is the idea compared to products/services that are already on the market? <h2>Rules are important to run a safe and fair hackathon!</h2><p><br /></p><p>Please read the full set of rules in our <a href="https://www.cassini.eu/hackathons/sites/default/files/2024-09/Rules%20of%20Contest%20-%20Cassini%20Hackathons%20Prize%20after%20Corrigendum%201.pdf" target="_blank">Rules of Contest</a>. In addition to that document, refer to the additional rules below:</p><ul><li><strong>✔️ Eligibility criteria.</strong> You must live in the European Union (any country) or in a non-EU country associated with <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/common/guidance/list-3rd-country-participation_horizon-euratom_en.pdf" target="_blank">Horizon Europe</a> (or in ongoing negotiations for an association) and be 18 years or older to participate in the hackathon competition. All teams must have at least 3 team members and can go up to a maximum of 8 members.</li><li><strong>💻 Fresh code only.</strong> To ensure a level field for all contestants, all code must be created by the team, during the Hackathon Weekend. But you are permitted to use publicly available or openly licensed APIs, SDKs, frameworks and other software libraries for your project. Any software development tools and/or programming language can be used.</li><li><strong>🤲 Everyone is welcome.</strong> We welcome all participants regardless of race, creed, colour, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical appearance, body size, disability, or marital status.</li><li><strong>💜 Be nice to each other.</strong> We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of race, creed, colour, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical appearance, body size, disability, or marital status. We do not tolerate harassment on our platforms in any form. </li><li><strong>⛔ Respect the rules</strong>. <h2>Meet the local organisers</h2><h3><strong>1. Belgium: BeCentral</strong></h3><p><a href="https://www.becentral.org/" target="_blank">BeCentral</a> is Brussels’ digital campus, located in the heart of Europe. Home to more than 70 organisations and start-ups, it fosters innovation in digital skills, entrepreneurship, and technology. With strong connections to Belgium’s tech and policy ecosystem, BeCentral will provide participants with a vibrant environment and access to experts across sectors.</p><h3><strong>2. Bulgaria: Sofia TechPark</strong></h3><p><a href="https://sofiatech.bg/en/" target="_blank">Sofia TechPark</a> is the first science and technology park in Bulgaria, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, and industry. Its ecosystem includes a business incubator, laboratories, and co-working spaces designed to accelerate innovation. Participants will benefit from access to mentors, investors, and a strong local start-up community.</p><h3>3. Finland: Helsinki Think Company</h3><p><a href="https://www.thinkcompany.fi/" target="_blank">Helsinki Think Company</a> is the entrepreneurship society of the University of Helsinki, empowering students, researchers, and professionals to turn ideas into impactful ventures. With long-standing experience in organising hackathons and innovation challenges, it will offer participants tailored mentoring, networking opportunities, and a creative workspace.</p><h3>4. Germany: N3xtcoder</h3><p><a href="https://n3xtcoder.org/" target="_blank">N3xtcoder</a> is a Berlin-based digital product builder dedicated to scaling tech for social and environmental good. With expertise in hackathon facilitation and connections to corporates and start-ups, the team supports participants in developing high-impact solutions and transforming ideas into sustainable ventures. </p><h3>5. Greece: Impact HUB Athens</h3><p><a href="https://athens.impacthub.net/?lang=en" target="_blank">Impact HUB Athens</a> is part of the global Impact Hub network, supporting social entrepreneurs and innovators. Through its incubation programmes, community events, and access to mentors, it helps start-ups scale their impact. For this hackathon, Impact Hub Athens will create a collaborative space for participants to design and test consumer-focused solutions.</p><h3>6. Italy: H-Farm</h3><p><a href="https://www.h-farm.com/en" target="_blank">H-Farm</a> is one of Europe’s largest innovation hubs, located near Venice. It combines education, entrepreneurship, and corporate innovation under one roof. Hosting a vibrant start-up campus, it connects participants with investors, mentors, and digital innovators, making it an ideal environment for hackathon teams to grow their projects.</p><h3>7. Kosovo: Prishtina REA</h3><p><a href="https://prishtina-rea.net/" target="_blank">Prishtina REA</a> is a key player in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Kosovo. It provides training, mentoring, and support for start-ups across technology and creative industries. During the hackathon, Prishtina REA will connect participants with local experts and business leaders to strengthen their ideas and solutions.</p><h3>8. New Caledonia: University of New Caledonia</h3><p>The <a href="https://unc.nc/en/" target="_blank">University of New Caledonia</a> is the central hub for research and higher education in the Pacific territory. It promotes innovation and knowledge-sharing through its academic programmes and partnerships with industry. The hackathon will allow participants to tap into the university’s expertise and regional networks.</p><h3>9. Poland: Krakow Technology Park</h3><p><a href="https://www.kpt.krakow.pl/en/" target="_blank">Krakow Technology Park</a> is a leading innovation hub in Poland, supporting tech companies and start-ups through incubation, acceleration, and dedicated business services. With strong ties to the ICT and creative industries, the park will provide participants with a dynamic environment and experienced mentors to help bring their solutions to life.</p><h3>10. Slovakia: SARIO (Slovak Space Office)</h3><p><a href="https://spaceoffice.sk/" target="_blank">SARIO (Slovak Space Office)</a> supports the development of Slovakia’s innovation and space ecosystem. By connecting government, academia, and private sector stakeholders, it fosters opportunities for entrepreneurs in emerging technologies. For this hackathon, the Slovak Space Office will offer participants guidance and insights into how space data can be leveraged for consumer solutions.</p>

<h2>Discover the prizes</h2><p><br /></p><h3>The hackathon competition ⚔️</h3><p>At the end of the Hackathon Weekend, each hackathon location will evaluate the project submitted by their teams to select the local winner and runner-ups. The local winners (one team per location) will then be invited to present their project during Demo Day, where a professional jury will select the 3 overall winners of the hackathon.
