How do I apply to the RaNd0M Aptos Hack?

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply:

  1. Create a TAIKAI Account: Start by creating an account on TAIKAI. This is your first step towards participating in the Aptos RaNd0M Hackathon.
  2. Join the Challenge: Navigate to the hackathon challenge page on TAIKAI and click "Join Challenge" to indicate your interest in participating.
  3. Complete the Registration Form: You'll find a registration form that needs to be filled out. Please fill in all required fields to proceed.
  4. Submit Your Project Proposal: Use this Google Doc template to provide insights into your proposed project: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DMvQDCuootayndN2mqe6jj1B--NGywZE6l98GsW4Hak/edit?usp=sharing. Make a copy of the document, complete it, and submit the link in your registration form. If applying as a team, each member should register separately but use the same Google Doc link for your joint project proposal.
  5. Await Confirmation: After submitting your registration, you'll receive an email confirmation of your submission. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be notified if you are accepted into the hackathon.
  6. Officially Create Your Project: Once accepted, you can officially create your project on the TAIKAI platform and add your team members.

Can I apply as an individual, or do I have to form a team?

Both individual builders and teams are welcome to apply for the RaNd0M Aptos Hack. While teamwork is encouraged, individual talents are equally valued.

How do I form a team?

To form a team for the hackathon, each individual member must first apply and be accepted into the Aptos RaNd0M Hackathon. The deadline for all applications is February 14. In your application, ensure to include the same link to a shared Google Doc with your project proposal. This consistency is key to conveying your team's joint vision for the project.

Once accepted, the Project Lead should create the project on the hackathon platform. After the project is established, the Project Lead can invite the other accepted team members to join this project on the platform. Keep in mind, you will receive an email notification if you’ve been accepted to participate in the Aptos RaNd0M Hack, after which you can proceed with these steps.

What do you look for in successful applicants?

We’re seeking teams that can fully realize their vision on the Aptos Mainnet. Ideal candidates are those with a robust full-stack development skill set for dApp creation, coupled with marketing and product development expertise to craft compelling go-to-market strategies.

I applied to join the RaNd0M Aptos Hack. What’s next?

After applying, you'll receive a confirmation email from TAIKAI. Accepted applicants will be notified on a rolling basis. Those not selected will be informed via email after the application period closes.

What kind of developer resources will you provide?

Participants have access to comprehensive resources to aid in the development of their hackathon project, whether you’re a new developer, new to Aptos, or a seasoned builder.

  • Advanced Technical Documentation: Detailed guides and technical resources for experienced developers, focusing on the Move programming language and the Randomness API.
  • Interactive Learning Platforms: Online platforms offering courses in Move programming, suitable for various skill levels.
  • Practical Examples and Tutorials: Real-world application examples and video tutorials to illustrate the implementation of key concepts.
  • Development Tools and Endpoints: Essential tools and network endpoints to support your project development and testing.

For a comprehensive overview and access to these resources, please visit the Resources tab.

What type of project ideas are you looking for?

While there’s no specific type of dApp required, all projects are required to incorporate the use of Aptos Roll (Aptos' randomness API) into their final submission. As long as you make use of this feature in some way, we encourage innovative and novel ideas. Refer to the prizing and judging criteria for guidance, but feel free to explore creative and unique concepts.

When must I create my project, and can I update it after creation?

Your project must be officially created on the TAIKAI platform by the Mid-Hack Check-In on February 29. However, we strongly encourage you to create your project before this deadline. The initial project creation is crucial for your team to be considered in the competition.

You are allowed and encouraged to continue refining, editing, and updating your project up until the final deliverables deadline on March 22. This flexibility ensures that your team can incorporate feedback, make necessary adjustments, and polish your project to best reflect your vision and capabilities.

What is expected from teams during the Mid-Hack Check-ins?

During the Midway Check-ins, teams are expected to demonstrate their progress towards their project goals. This includes showcasing a working codebase, any design elements, or a demo of the project. The purpose of these check-ins is to ensure that teams are on the right track and making tangible progress. It's an opportunity for teams to receive feedback and guidance, helping them refine and improve their projects as they prepare for the final submission. Showcasing substantial progress in these areas is crucial for staying aligned with the hackathon's objectives and timelines.

What are the required final deliverables when I submit my project for the Aptos RaNd0M Hackathon?

When you submit your project for the Aptos RaNd0M Hackathon, the following deliverables are required:

  • Codebase: Submit the complete codebase of your project. This should include all the source code and any other relevant development artifacts that demonstrate the functionality of your project.
  • MVP Demo Video: Provide a video demo of your Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This demo should showcase the key features and functionality of your project, giving a clear understanding of what you've built.
  • Go-To-Market Strategy: Outline your strategy for bringing your project to market. This should include your plan for user acquisition, growth, and any other relevant aspects of how you intend to make your project successful in the real world.
  • Mainnet Launch Date: Include a proposed launch date for when your project will be ready to go live on the Aptos Mainnet. This demonstrates your team's commitment to and planning for the project's future.
