Description

💎 Idea:

Our idea centers on leveraging European space technologies to enhance crop selection prediction for agriculture. The core challenge we seek to address is the demand for precise and timely insights into agricultural productivity and trends. By utilizing satellite data, we intend to develop a robust model that empowers farmers to make informed decisions about which crops to plant. This data-driven approach provides valuable predictions based on factors like moisture levels, vegetation health, and other environmental parameters.

🛰️ EU Space Technologies:

We utilize a wide range of data sources from Sentinel 2 and 3, including the Terrestrial Chlorophyll Index (OTCI), False color composite, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI), Short wave infrared composite (SWIR), and Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI). Galileo is used for determining our location (automatic or manual). These sources provide access to a comprehensive set of environmental parameters, enabling us to gain valuable insights into agriculture and crop selection. This data is invaluable for its capacity to offer accurate, timely, and comprehensive information on agricultural conditions and environmental parameters. Our project's value lies in empowering farmers to choose specific crops based on data-driven predictions, ultimately enhancing farm productivity and food security. By integrating data from these sources, we can gain insights into factors that influence agriculture and crop selection.

Our project's value lies in empowering farmers to choose specific crops based on data-driven predictions. By leveraging space technologies, we aim to offer actionable insights that support more efficient and sustainable crop selection, ultimately enhancing agricultural productivity and food security.

⛑️ Space for International Development & Humanitarian Aid - Challenge #2:

Our initiative directly addresses Challenge #2 - Strengthening food security. We contribute to solving the problems faced in international development and humanitarian aid by utilizing space technologies to address key agricultural challenges.

Specifically, we aim to:

Enable Anticipatory Action: By using satellite data, we provide early insights into environmental factors affecting agriculture. This information can help farmers anticipate challenges and make proactive decisions, contributing to more resilient and sustainable farming practices.

Enhance Crop Selection: Our project's predictive model assists farmers in making informed choices about which crops to plant based on factor predictions. This supports more efficient land use, sustainable agriculture, and improved food security.

Our project aligns with the overarching goal of strengthening food security and promoting sustainable agriculture, ultimately contributing to international development and humanitarian aid efforts in a meaningful and impactful way.
