Description

Our goal is to develop a software that:

  • Achieves connectivity between specialized rescue teams.
  • Improves the rapid response.
  • Implements real time monitoring of their units in the cases of wildfires with the help of Copernicus's European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) via the MODIS sensor and VIIRS.

In the case of wildfire, the software will provide firefighters and all other forces with precise information, taking into consideration wind speed and direction. This information will be conveyed to each fire truck dispatched to extinguish the fire. In order to visualise the given information, the fire engines would need to be equiped with a device that supports the software.

The majority of fire trucks do not meet the necessary hardware criteria. In such instances, an extra device will be supplied that can receive the information and advise on the optimal route based on the estimated size of the fire.

Our team consist of 7 people from the faculty "Fire safety and civil protection" at the Academy of Ministery of Interior.

  • Svilena Arabadjieva - Team's Supervisor. Senior inspector of "Fire safety and civil protection".
  • Georgi Biberov - 1st year
  • Tsvetomir Aleksandrov - 1st year
  • Petar Ivanov - 3rd year
  • Petar Petrov - 3rd year
  • Stancho Nankov - 3rd year
  • Stoyan Dimitrov - 3rd year

At the moment none of our teammates has any experience with satellites, but we're all glad to learn new things.
