FrameworkThe Future Innovators program is an initiative promoted by Unicorn Factory Lisboa in partnership with José de Mello, SONAE, Claranet, and Associação .PT. Its goal is to bring innovation and entrepreneurial spirit to university students in Portugal.Structured into 3 practical phases, the program provides the necessary tools for university students to develop their ideas, enhancing their skills in these areas and boosting their future professional careers, thus becoming the leaders of tomorrow!This document aims to present the regulations for the implementation of the 2nd phase of the program – Hackathons, which consists of a “marathon” during which participants will seek to develop a technological solution to address the partners' challenges. It will take place in Porto on May 18 and 19. Article 1 - Objectives1. The main objective of this initiative is to seek innovative and digital solutions for the challenges presented by the initiative's partners in the fields of education, retail, and senior care.2. Another objective of this initiative is to contribute to the development of the university entrepreneurship ecosystem. Article 2 – ChallengesFor the organization of this initiative, each partner has identified challenges for which they are seeking solutions. For more information about these challenges, please consult the challenges. Article 3 - Participantsa) This hackathon is intended for all students aged 18 and over who, organized in teams or individually (teams with a maximum of 5 members), consider that they can propose a solution to the identified challenges;b) Candidate teams must have at least one person with some technological knowledge, such as programming, no-code, engineering, or a similar field;c) For team selection, it is also valued that, in addition to the criteria in the previous point, the teams have a member from another field of knowledge;d) The maximum number of participants is 20 teams;e) Applications and participation in this initiative are free of charge;f) Participation in the initiative implies acceptance and adherence to the conditions set out in this document;g) Applications and participation imply acceptance of the confidentiality and personal data processing clauses provided for in the General Data Protection Regulation and related legislation. Article 5 – Application Processa) Applications to participate in the Initiative are made by filling out and submitting the application form available on the website https://www.futureinnovators.pt/;b) The application period runs from April 23 to May 12, 2024 (inclusive until 23:59);c) The Organization may, unilaterally and with prior notice published on the Website, extend the application deadline or make other changes to the Initiative;d) The organization is not responsible for any loss or non-receipt of applications, even if such results from interruptions or network failures of the website created for submitting applications;e) Only applications that correctly and fully indicate all the elements requested in the application form available on the website indicated in point a) will be accepted;f) The contact details in the application form must be active and updated throughout the entire Initiative period. Article 6 – Selection of Applicationsa) Applications will be subject to a preliminary analysis to verify the formal eligibility conditions of the promoters and the presented idea;b) Applications will undergo a preliminary evaluation based on the initiative's objectives for pre-selection purposes;c) If the organization finds that there are applications that do not comply with the provisions of this regulation, it may, at its sole discretion, choose to summarily reject the application or request the candidates to correct the discrepancies within the deadline and conditions set for this purpose;d) The selection decision is not subject to appeal, and non-selected applications will be automatically rejected. Article 7 – General Conditions of Participation in the Initiativea) Participants must always act cordially and respectfully during the Initiative, particularly following the rules and procedures for operation, programming, and security.b) Inappropriate or abusive behavior, including the use of obscene language, will not be tolerated;c) The Organization reserves the right to exclude any Participant who does not comply with the rules set out in this Regulation during the Initiative.d) During the Initiative, the following will be provided to Participants:   i. Workspace and rest area;   ii. Wi-Fi network;   iii. Audiovisual equipment for the final presentation; and   iv. Meals;e) Participants should bring computers and other equipment they deem relevant for developing their idea/solution. Article 8 – Requirementsa) During the Initiative period, Teams will develop a solution that addresses the challenge posed by the Organization, which will be presented in its final format as the last stage of the Initiative;b) Participants are responsible for all information and content of the solution they present, ensuring it is their own, original, and unpublished, and does not infringe on third-party rights, including intellectual property rights. Participants are solely responsible for obtaining any necessary authorizations and for any violations they may commit. This responsibility is joint and several if the candidates are a group of individuals. Article 9 – Selection of Winning Teamsa) The submitted Projects will be analyzed and evaluated by the Jury according to the following criteria:   i. Adequacy of the solution to the chosen challenge;   ii. Degree of innovation of the solution;   iii. Feasibility;   iv. Team performance during the Initiative.b) The Jury will consist of representatives from the initiative's partner entities and individuals with recognized experience and merit in their respective fields.c) The Jury may request information and/or clarifications from Participants about the content of their Projects if it deems it necessary for a proper evaluation;d) The Jury may choose not to select any Project if none meet the requirements listed in the points of this regulation;e) The winning team(s) will be announced at the closing session of the initiative. Article 10 – Prizesa) The Winning Teams will be awarded the following prizes:   i. 1st prize: €3,000.00 (three thousand euros);   ii. 2nd prize: €2,000.00 (two thousand euros);   iii. 3rd prize: €1,000.00 (one thousand euros).b) The monetary prizes to be paid to the winners must be supported by a fiscal document, in accordance with Portuguese legislation;c) To receive the indicated prizes, the IBAN for the bank transfer must be provided. Article 11 – Intellectual Propertya) The industrial property and intellectual rights of the solutions presented belong to the promoter(s);b) The promoters grant the organization permission to use non-confidential information in its promotion and marketing activities;c) The organization of this initiative cannot be held responsible for any intellectual property violation, misuse, or plagiarism by another candidate promoter or an external member. Article 12 – ConfidentialityCandidates, Participants, and other Parties undertake to keep confidential all information accessed under this Initiative, including industrial property or copyright or related rights, even after its completion, except as strictly necessary for the execution of the Initiative and its dissemination and promotion. Article 13 - Clarifications and Final Provisionsa) For any clarifications, candidates should send an email to futureinnovators@unicornfactorylisboa.com.b) The Organization reserves the right to amend this Regulation at any time;c) Omitted cases will be resolved by the Organization at its discretion;d) Participation in the Initiative implies the express acceptance by the Participants of the terms and conditions of this Regulation.

<h2 id="whatispixelscamp">What is Future Innovators Program?</h2>
Future Innovators Program is a yearly technology event, spanning over three days of non-stop technical talks, workshops,
 competitions, and coding. For 60 hours straight, around 1000 participants can enjoy world-class presentations,
 demos, community events, and its classic 48-hour coding competition.
<h2 id="whocanattendpixelscamp">Who can attend Future Innovators Program?</h2>
Future Innovators Program is targeted at creative minds with a hacker spirit (in the classical definition of the word). Anyone
 with a technical profile is welcome to apply, not only engineers (eg. web designers are welcome too).
<h2 id="howareapplicantsselected">How are applicants selected?</h2>
Future Innovators Program curators aim at selecting the best, most participative and motivated, programmers and creatives. For
 this they rely on what candidates fill in their profiles (their pitches and personal bios) and evidence of
 engagement in previous editions (if applicable). CVs don't matter, please don't paste full CVs as an application
 pitch. What matters is your potential and your passion for technology, no matter your level of experience.
<h2 id="howmuchdoesitcost">How much does it cost?</h2>
Future Innovators Program is free for all selected candidates.
<h2 id="caniregisterourcompanyemployeesinbulk">Can I register our company employees in bulk?</h2>
No. Candidates must register and apply individually (they are evaluated and selected individually too, see above).

<h2 id="doyoupayfortheatendeestransportationandoraccomodationcosts">Do you pay for the atendees' transportation and/or
 accomodation costs?</h2>
No. However, there may be discounts and other partnerships. If so, these will be announced in the months leading to
 the event, so make sure you follow us in one of the social networks where we're present. You can also choose to
 sleep in the venue. This one is guaranteed, with some caveats (see below).
<h2 id="canibringaguesttotheevent">Can I bring a guest to the event?</h2>
No. All attendees must apply to the event individually.
<h2 id="doihavetoparticipateinthe48hprogrammingcompetition">Do I have to participate in the 48h programming
 competition?</h2>
No. But we do encourage you to participate in something during the event, and not just passively roam around the
 venue. Fortunately, there are plenty of activities to choose from.
<h2 id="iwasselectedbutcantattendtheeventwhatdoido">I was selected but can't attend the event, what do I do?</h2>
Please let us know. Spots are limited and it would be nice if another candidate could go instead (but no, you
 cannot choose who that candidate might be).
<h2 id="whenwilltheschedulebeavailable">When will the schedule be available?</h2>
A detailed schedule will be available closer to the event, on our website
<h2 id="willtherebealivestreamfromtheevent">Will there be a live stream from the event?</h2>
Yes, live streaming will be available. The feed will be focused on the activities taking place on the main stage,
 such as talks and contests. When nothing is going on there, you can expect a general transmission of the event.
<h2 id="willthetalksberecorded">Will the talks be recorded?</h2>
Unless the speaker states otherwise, every talk will be recorded and available online in the weeks following the
 event.
<h2 id="istherefoodandbeveragesattheevent">Is there food and beverages at the event?</h2>
Food and drinks will be provided free for all attendees. We'll be providing lunch and dinner daily, and there will
 be random snacks and beverages available 24/7.
<h2 id="whyistheofficiallanguageenglish">Why is the official language English?</h2>
Although most of our participants are from Portugal, we have attendees coming from all over the world. English is
 usually well understood and accepted. Our main motivation is technology and talent, and these are global attributes,
 so our main 'language' is what we use to code. English is not the only language at the event, though. The event is
 bilingual, so there may be talks held in portuguese. These will be properly identified in the event's schedule.
<h2 id="doigetaparticipationcertificateattheend">Do I get a participation certificate at the end?</h2>
Yes, we can provide participation certificates on demand in the days following Future Innovators Program. Just make sure you
 actually participate.
<h2 id="shouldiarrangeforaplacetostay">Should I arrange for a place to stay?</h2>
In the spirit of the event, attendees can choose to stay the night at the venue, sleeping in sleeping bags or such.
 But if this is not your thing, you have many accommodation options elsewhere around. Closer to the event we may
 announce discounts and partnerships. Please note that Lisbon has plenty of tourism all year round, which means high
 occupation in hotels and hostels, so try and book your reservations in advance.
<h2 id="aretherehotelsnearby">Are there hotels nearby?</h2>
Future Innovators Program's venue (Pavilhão Carlos Lopes) is in a very central location in the city, so there are plenty of
 hotels around. These are just a few examples: Zenit Lisboa, Lisbon Fontana Park, Hotel Miraparque, Lisbon Top
 Hostel, Home Sweet Lisbon, Midtown Hostel
<h2 id="arethereshowersavailable">Are there showers available?</h2>
The logistics for this are complicated, so don't count on it. Bathrooms are available, but showers may not exist at
 all or be very limited in time. You'll have to improvise.
<h2 id="ivedecidedtostayatthevenuecanibringasmalltenttopixelscamp">I've decided to stay at the venue. Can I bring a
 small tent to Future Innovators Program?</h2>
Although the event has 'Camp' in its name, tents are not allowed due to space limitations inside the venue. However
 we'll do our best to provide you with optimal spots for taking naps.
<h2 id="whataboutasleepingbag">What about a sleeping bag?</h2>
This one is allowed, no problems with that.
<h2 id="istherewifiattheevent">Is there Wi-Fi at the event?</h2>
Of course. There will also be a limited number of ethernet outlets in the table area, but teams doing projects for
 the 48h competition have priority on these.
<h2 id="willthewifibeanygoodthisyear">Will the Wi-Fi be any good this year?</h2>
The million-dollar question… The organization will provide a world-class setup but, ultimately, this depends on you
 and your fellow attendees. Bear in mind that hotspots are NOT ALLOWED at the event. Wi-Fi is a shared medium, like a
 pool, please don't pee in the pool.
<h2 id="whataretheseotheractivities">What are these other activities?</h2>
The main activity is, of course, the 48h programming competition, where your team works on a project during the
 event and presents it on stage on the final day. In the Quiz Show teams answer tech/science related questions and in
 the Security CTF teams try to solve cybersecurity-related challenges. There's also a retro gaming competition where
 participants play classic games on stage. These are just some examples.
<h2 id="howcaniparticipateintheseotheractivities">How can I participate in these other activities?</h2>
Some will have qualifier challenges in the weeks leading to Future Innovators Program (eg. the Quiz Show and the Security CTF),
 you just need to participate and score enough to get qualified. Others require only that you register during the
 event. Check the pixels.camp website for more details.
<h2 id="ifimselectedtoparticipateinoneoftheseactivitiescaniselectanyonetoteamupwithmeevenaspeaker">If I'm selected to
 participate in one of these activities, can I select anyone to team up with me? Even a speaker?</h2>
Yes, but it'll help if you tell that person beforehand.
<h2 id="doesthatmeanicaninvitesomeonewhosnotattendingpixelscamp">Does that mean I can invite someone who's not
 attending Future Innovators Program?</h2>
No. The other members in your team must also be approved attendees. And to be approved they must apply for the
 event (individually).
<h2 id="arethereprizesforwinningoneoftheseactivities">Are there prizes for winning one of these activities?</h2>
In most cases, yes. But we won't tell you what the prize is in advance.
<h2 id="iwanttobeaspeakerattheeventhowcaniproposeatalk">I want to be a speaker at the event. How can I propose a talk?
</h2>
Talks proposals are handled through GitHub pull requests. Follow the instructions in the talks repo (
 https://github.com/pixelscamp/talks ).
<h2 id="doineedtoapplytopixelscamptoproposeatalk">Do I need to apply to Future Innovators Program to propose a talk?</h2>
Yes, you do. And if your talk is accepted, it means you're immediately accepted as an attendee as well (of course).

<h2 id="sinceenglishistheofficiallanguageshouldmytalkbegiveninenglish">Since english is the official language, should
 my talk be given in english?</h2>
English is the official language, yes, but it's optional for participants and speakers. If you're not comfortable
 (enough) with delivering a talk in english, you can choose to deliver it in portuguese instead. You could also
 choose Klingon, or Goa'uld, but it makes sense to choose a language that at least a few people in the audience would
 be able to understand… ;)
<h2 id="iaminterestedinexhibitingorbecomingasponsorwhatdoido">I am interested in exhibiting or becoming a sponsor,
 what do I do?</h2>

<h2 id="imatechguybutialsodorecruitingisitokifitalktosomeoneatpixelscamptoseeiftheyreinterestedinworkingwithme">I'm a
 tech guy but I also do recruiting. Is it OK if I talk to someone at Future Innovators Program to see if they're interested in
 working with me?</h2>
You cannot engage in direct recruitment activities during Future Innovators Program. This is one of the core rules of the event.
 The attendees don't enjoy unsolicited targeting, and we don't want to turn the event into a battlefield for hires.
 Trust us, it's better for you, not only for attendees. Having said this, it's OK if the interest is mutual and both
 parties want to talk (meaning the attendee approaches you). It's definitely NOT OK if you're preaching to the crowd
 or fishing around for interest.
<h2 id="canileaveafewflyersonthetablestoadvertisemygroupeventcompany">Can I leave a few flyers on the tables to
 advertise my group/event/company?</h2>
That would depend on what you're advertising. The only hard rule on this is that you talk to us first at
