  PRIZES

There are two challenges and two categories (either build or design) teams can compete in. We will be awarding a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for each of the two categories and there is a bonus prize, so that's a total of 7 prizes to be won!

STEP ONE

Choose one challenge:

Challenge 1 (Industry): Design experience or build functionality that uses IPFS and/or Filecoin to solve a problem specific to one industry.

If you are a team working on challenge 1 some key industry focus areas are:-

i) Tertiary education

ii) Health records

iii) Environmental sciences

iv) NFTs

v) Music Industry

Challenge 2 (Integrations): Design experience or build functionality that integrates IPFS/Filecoin storage with Web3 networks such as NEAR, Polygon, Flow smart contracts, or Chainlink oracles.

For both challenge options 1 & 2, the following Filecoin verifiable global data storage network attributes should feature in the hacks:

1. Verifiable Redundancy – Store your data with 1 or 3,000 storage providers

2. Verifiable Audits – The networks checks data is online every 24 hours

3. Verifiable Source of Truth – The hash/data are locked together forever

4. Verifiable Version Oversight - Multiple hashes provide an exact timeline of the data history

5. A Trusted data storage experience (UX) for users that conveys these attributes

Note: Project submissions are also free to use IPFS and/or Filecoin directly, or a storage API such as Estuary.tech, web3.storage, or NFT.storage.

STEP TWO

Choose one category to deliver your submission in. Choose based on what the lead outcome will be - either:

  Category (A) Build of MVP/functionality

Your team will be producing code and a working demo.

  Category (B) UX design prototype

Your team will be designing experience and a working prototype.

Note that both categories will naturally incorporate some build and some design elements, you will however nominate which category you will feature.

PRIZE POOL

There is $55,000 AUD in prizes which will be awarded in Filecoin (FIL).

The top 6 projects, 3 that are build and 3 design will win the following:

Category (A) BUILD (MVP/ FUNCTIONALITY)          Category (B) UX DESIGN (EXPERIENCE PROTOTYPES)

1st $15,000 in FIL                                                          1st $15,000 in FIL

2nd $8,000 in FIL                                                          2nd $8,000 in FIL

3rd $2,000 in FIL                                                           3rd $2,000 in FIL

Plus one there is an additional bonus prize: Target your entry in either category at the music industry and win $5k MODA DAO tokens

SUBMISSION CRITERIA

Prizes will be awarded to the top 7 projects, considering the criteria below.

1. Project Description

1.1 The name and summary of the project.

1.2 The nominated challenge - either (1) Industry OR (2) Integrations.

1.3 The nominated category - either (A) Build OR (B) Design.

2. Team

2.1 Names/pseudonyms of team members and contact info (e.g., GitHub handle, email address, or other).

3. Criteria

3.1 A clear problem statement (“why?”) and alignment with challenge (weighting 10)

Provide a description of the real world problem you are solving, for who and the impact it will have on the people who use your solution (i.e. what cant they do without it today).

- The judges will evaluate this aspect of the proposal on if there is a clear problem/need being solved.

3.1 Solution Alignment with Hackathon Proposed Challenge

How the project uses IPFS and/or Filecoin and/or decentralised storage services that build on top of either with example links to where in code those technologies are used or design prototypes reside.

The following Filecoin verifiable global data storage network attributes should feature in the hacks:

i) Verifiable Redundancy – Store your data with 1 or 3,000 storage providers

ii)  Verifiable Audits – The networks checks data is online every 24 hours

iii) Verifiable Source of Truth – The hash/data are locked together forever

iv) Verifiable Version Oversight - Multiple hashes provide an exact timeline of the data history

v) A Trusted data storage experience (UX) for users that conveys these attributes

- Judges will score each team’s proposal in terms of how they align to the nominated challenge, assessing if Filecoin and IPFS are at the core of the project.

3.2 Explain the solution with a clear value proposition (“impact”) (weighting 5)

Value propositions can be delivered in terms of productivity improvement, cost reduction, experience and more.

- The judges will evaluate the proposal on how well the solution demonstrates impact.

3.4 Innovation Potential (weighting 3)

Projects will be evaluated on both the team’s solution and approach to solving their proposed problem. Desired solutions should present new, outside the box approaches to solve a problem; new processes or automation of processes; and many other smart, cost-effective, creative means to build smarter and more impactful solutions. Also, this will evaluate how the team’s solution differentiates itself from other already existing solutions, how they are unique and different and why they have a chance to thrive.

3.5 Progress & Functionality (weighting 2)

The Judges will assess how far the team has gone in implementing their solution, is there a prototype or something tangible? Are the main aspects of their solution implemented as part of the first interaction/MVP/PoC? This evaluation will always take into account the duration of the Hackathon and what can be done in that length of time so that teams tackling big and complex projects will be levelled in the same way as teams that have less complex issues to implement.

4 The project pitch must be

4.1 Showcase either a video or presentation:

5 minute (max) video that presents the idea, including a brief demo of the use of IPFS and/or Filecoin or anything that builds on top

    OR

15 slide presentation (max) that presents the idea, including a brief demo of the use of IPFS and/or Filecoin or anything that builds on top

4.2 Link to the publicly visible source code repository or design prototypes.

  • Provide comprehensive README, incl. a clear description of the work and mention of how the tech is used in the Technologies Used section of README.
  • Include a link to the working demo or provide a testing guide.
