Web3 Summer!</strong></h2><p>Your university is on winter break, but Web3 is in its invincible summer.&nbsp;</p><h3><br></h3><h3><strong>University $1M+ Hackathon</strong></h3><p>As part of Silicon Valley Blockchain Week, Harmony will host a web3 hackathon for students from Dec 20th, 2021 to Jan 23rd, 2022 with over $1M in grants and prizes. Students and recent alumni from all universities are welcome to participate.</p><h3><br></h3><h3><strong>Overview</strong></h3><p>Harmony is a believer in nurturing enthusiastic builders of the future. The University web3 hackathon will give students a chance to build and showcase their projects for a chance to claim grants and prizes valued at over $1M. The hackathon will run from December 20th, 2021 until January 12th, 2022, with winners announced on January 16th, 2022. Be the ONE to bridge to all blockchains.</li><li>Harmony is an open and fast blockchain.</li><li>Our mainnet runs Ethereum applications with 2-second transaction finality and 100 times lower fees. The only way for blockchain to grow is if new developers enter the industry.</p><h3><br></h3><h3>How many students can be on a team?</h3><p>Teams of 2-4 are encouraged; however, we will allow teams of 1-5 people.</p><p><br></p><h3>How do students sign up to be on a team?</h3><p>Students will join Taikai individually, then will create a new team and invite the other students from their University to join their team.</p><p><br></p><h3>Can alumni participate?</h3><p>Yes, but must have graduated within the last year.</p><p><br></p><h3>Can international students participate?</h3><p>Yes!&nbsp;</p><h3><br></h3><h3>What&#39;s the code of conduct?</h3><p>We have zero tolerance policy for harassment and other negative behavior.</p><p>&bull; &quot;Harassment&quot; includes but is not limited to offensive verbal or written comments or other online activity related to gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, physical appearance, race, religion, sexual images, deliberate intimidation, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If participants fail to comply they will be banned from all channels and access to the event. &zwj;</p><p>&bull; All sponsors, judges, mentors, organizers, volunteers and the like are also subject to the anti-harrassment policy. If you use pre-existing code, disclose all information in your submission, indicating what&rsquo;s pre-existing and what code is new and show how your submission is explicitly different from old work.
First and foremost, we want you to build on Harmony. Preference will go to submissions that utilize the Ethereum-to-Harmony Horizon Bridge and whose applications are focused on DeFi. We&#39;ll publish a wish-list of applications we want to see on Harmony in a blog post soon. Of course, all submissions need to be linked to a public Github repository and if, selected, be ready to join demo day and present your submission as a team.<br><br></p><p>All projects will be submitted to <a href="https://gov.harmony.one/#/hackthefuture" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Snapshot</a>. In true decentralized fashion, the Harmony community will vote on all submitted projects to select a 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winner from each university.
