I'm a software engineer eager to learn new technologies and highly motivated to code in different frameworks and languages.
I started out as a Beta Tester at YDreams doing some tests on some mobile games for the Nokia S60 while taking my university degree in Software Engineering.
After awhile I was offered a position as a Game Designer to develop games and interactive applications. I participated in titles such as Cristiano Ronaldo Underworld Footbal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3lBwQ1hq6c) and Undercover 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X3DS9tgncQ).
After finishing my university degree I worked as a consultant hired by Axa to make a huge revamp of their database architecture and make some common APIs for all of their applications and websites. I worked a lot with Oracle technologies and PL/SQL at that time.
I've worked for pmelink.pt (now yunit.pt) for almost 4 years doing alot of J2EE, Oracle and RoR stuff as well as some system administrator work.I've also done some work with queueing technology using RabbitMQ and a lot of REST webservices to integrate several applications.
Afterwards I worked for Seedrs (http://www.seedrs.com) for 3 years, a hot new startup that wants to revolutionize the world of finance and how startups are funded.Worked on bootstrapping their investments platform working with Ruby on Rails and Javascript.
Currently I work remotely for RBI (http://www.rbi.com/) doing systems integrations and revolutionizing the way restaurants interact with their guests.I do a little bit of everything on the backend, from infrastructure work to REST API design to coding javascript micro services and libraries or even defining AWS infrastructure in Ruby I just roll up my sleeves and do what needs to be done.
I read a lot about software craftsmanship and finding new and better ways to write software and refactor and change legacy projects.I'm passionate about APIs, REST and Test Driven Development and my own personal quest is to make everyone think about Domain Driven Design and work with the best coding standards available.
I'm a gamer at heart and in order to relax and wonder a bit outside of my "computer life" I play a lot of tabletop and miniature games and since the age of 10 I've played games like Warhammer 40k, Warmachine or card games like Magic the Gathering or Vampire.I enjoy the competitive aspect of the tabletop games and the thrill of playing with another person and also the hobby of painting miniatures (I keep a blog of some of my painted miniatures in here http://minink.tumblr.com).
Lately I've been messing with quadcopters and FPV flying and loving it!
