Description

Problem Statement :- Cybercrime in India has grown at an unprecedented rate. Between 2016 and 2024, reported cases rose by nearly 1,800%.

● In 2016, just 12,317 cases were officially recorded.

● By 2024, the number had skyrocketed to 22.6 lakh cases.

This rise is not limited to one type of fraud — it spans financial frauds, UPI scams, identity theft, social media account hacks, phishing, online abuse, and cyber harassment. Despite the rise in incidents, most victims never receive justice because they do not report effectively:

● Only 20–25% of victims even attempt to report their cases.

● Of those, only ~2% result in FIRs being officially registered.

● The final resolution rate is just 0.109% — meaning fewer than 2 in 1,000 cases actually reach closure.

Key Barriers in the Current System

Lack of Clarity: Victims are unsure whether to go to a police station, cyber cell, helpline, or online portal.

Multiple Platforms: NCRP portal, 1930 helpline, local police, and social media grievance channels exist — but they are scattered.

Confusion Over Process: Users don’t know what documents to prepare, what timelines to follow, or when to escalate.

Delays Reduce Chances of Recovery: In cases like financial fraud, even a delay of a few hours drastically reduces the possibility of fund recovery.

Why This Application is Important

1. Why is this application needed?

Because cyber fraud and online abuse are rising sharply, but there is no integrated reporting system.

2. Why is there such a gap?

Because existing systems are fragmented across multiple platforms, creating confusion for victims.

3. Why do people fail to report at the right place?

Because there is no central, guided, and user-friendly interface.

4. Why hasn’t such an interface been created yet?

Because of poor technical integration and coordination with police, banks, and cyber authorities.

5. Why has this coordination not happened so far?

Because cybercrime response has not been treated as a national priority, and no solution has yet brought technical, legal, and user-level needs under one roof
