In our ongoing commitment to advancing secure and private cross-chain transactions, we've successfully implemented Bitcoin Multi-Party Computation (MPC) in conjunction with NEAR's Chain Signatures technology. This integration empowers users to execute transactions across multiple blockchains securely and efficiently.

Implementation Details:

  • Cross-Chain Transaction Execution: By integrating Bitcoin MPC with NEAR Chain Signatures, users can initiate and authorize transactions on the Bitcoin network directly from their NEAR accounts. The MPC protocol ensures that the private key remains distributed among multiple parties, enhancing security and reducing the risk of key compromise. 

  • Enhanced Security Measures: The combination of MPC and Chain Signatures provides a robust security framework for cross-chain transactions. The distributed nature of MPC eliminates single points of failure, while Chain Signatures facilitate seamless and secure interactions between NEAR and other blockchains

Handling Zcash Transactions:

Given that the NEAR Intents platform currently does not support shielded transactions inherent to Zcash, we've devised a two-step process to maintain user privacy during withdrawals:

  1. Transparent Address Withdrawal: Initially, funds are withdrawn to the user's transparent Zcash address, of a temporary account. This step ensures compatibility with the NEAR Intents platform while facilitating the movement of assets.

  2. Shielded Transfer to Main Account: Subsequently, a shielded transaction is executed, transferring the funds from the transparent address to the user's main shielded Zcash account. This approach preserves the privacy features of Zcash by ensuring that the final holding of funds remains confidential.

This method balances the current technical limitations with the privacy expectations of our users, ensuring that their financial activities remain secure and private.
