Our Hackathon submission is developed using Blockchain and specifically incorporates NEAR in its design. Our web app will provide a platform to network for those who are interested in Blockchain related technologies while also providing a traditional marketplace for users to exchange tokens and goods.
Chains was designed using Django as the backend along with JavaScript and the React framework as the front end. We incorporated Blockchain related technologies such as requiring users to sign in using their NEAR wallets which provides a layer of security through decentralization.
We ran into significant difficulties in terms of implementing the NEAR JavaScript API which resulted in a major delay in creating the web app which ultimately resulted in a unfinished product due to time constraints. Consequently, much of the planned features involving the NEAR JS API for incorporating Blockchain technologies have not been implemented such as the planned marketplace.
In spite of the technical difficulties as well as the tight time constraints, we were able to release a partially functional web app while also gaining valuable technical information through learning how to use React and Django to create the various functions and capabilities needed for a successful application. We believe that given more time, we would've created a full web app as envisioned in our presentation slides.
Our next steps are to likely finish the app on our own time to learn further about the various languages and frameworks required to create the app. We will likely reflect on our time management skills while also ensuring that we are more knowledgeable to receive help when its needed from mentors and fellow colleagues.
