Traditional spacecraft are confined to the orbital plane, to which they have been initially transported by a launch vehicle, due to their limited propulsion systems. Moving across multiple orbital planes requires either a lot of time or fuel - both which are constrained resources in a contested environment.
DeltaOrbit develops highly efficient high-thrust propulsion systems suitable for such missions. We propose to use this technology to develop a Satellite Mothership (or carrier) that can transport smaller inspector/manipulator spacecraft to targets that are not within reach of classical spacecraft. This Mothership can loiter in orbit for multiple years, observe its surroundings and quickly intercept targets, even in remote orbits.
At the end of the Hackathon we want to have:
We still look for team members! You don't have to be a rocket scientist do join this project (but it sure helps :-D ).
