Legacy Identity

Legacy Identity is a multi-chain identity system designed to establish a more intimate and unique connection between users and their domains.

Challenge

The pronounced fragmentation of name systems and the separation of domains from individuals' true identity are prevalent issues.

Approach

We chose to create identities through Handles (@yourname) rather than traditional domain formats like '.eth'. This process allows users to transfer their social media identifiers to the crypto universe, enhancing identity and continuity. By integrating social media handles into digital asset management within a multi-chain identity system, we reduce the gap between real identity and user domain, promoting a more cohesive and recognizable digital representation across multiple platforms. 

In addition to social media identity, we will integrate major name services, starting with ENS, to enable users to easily migrate their current web3 identity to Legacy Identity. In this way, users will be able to link their domain to their handle, simplifying the process not only for themselves but also for other projects that use our SDK, which will be able to search by resolver not only by the handle but also by the person's legacy domain. In other words, we will be resolvers for ENS and other name services as well.
