PiggySats is a modern twist on the traditional Turkish "altın günü," a social savings practice where a group of people regularly contribute gold to a collective pot, with one member receiving the total amount each cycle. In PiggySats, this concept is digitized using Citrea, replacing physical gold with CBTC contributions. Participants pool their funds in a smart contract, and an admin (which can also be a smart contract or a bot) decides who receives the pot each cycle, though withdrawals are limited to the amount a participant has already contributed unless others vouch for them to access more. To ensure trust, a vouching system allows members to support each other, enabling someone to withdraw beyond their contribution if others vouch for their future payments. If a participant fails to contribute, vouches cover the shortfall, and the system adjusts future payouts accordingly. This setup preserves the communal spirit of altın günü while leveraging blockchain for transparency and security.
The funds locked in the contract can also be used to generate yields, which are distributed among participants based on their winning cycle after all cycles are completed.
