A drought monitoring tool that turns existing EU space data into a groundwater risk map for agriculture.
We combine two Copernicus-derived signals:
- Land subsidence from Sentinel-1 radar interferometry (via the European Ground Motion Service) - as aquifers deplete from over-pumping, the land slowly sinks by millimeters per year. This is a direct, physical fingerprint of long-term groundwater loss.
- Surface soil moisture from Sentinel-1 backscatter products - showing short-term drought stress at the topsoil level.
Together, they give farmers, regulators, and insurers a full-stack picture of water loss, from topsoil to deep aquifer.
By using EU assets that already exist, there is zero new hardware cost.
