Description

Water Stellar is a platform that transforms Earth observation data into real-time flood risk decisions.

Today, flood detection exists, but it is not connected to the systems that actually need to act — insurers, banks, and governments. 

🛰️ EU space technologies

The platform integrates Copernicus data sources and geospatial processing:

  • Terrain analysis using Copernicus DEM (GLO-30)
  • Flood detection using either:
    • Synthetic flood estimation (default), or
    • Optional Sentinel-1 SAR satellite imagery (cloud-independent)
  • Hydrological modeling based on slope, flow accumulation, wetness, and terrain position

These inputs are processed through a scoring model that identifies locations most suitable for flood mitigation.

The platform then generates real-time decision triggers, enabling:

  • Insurers to assess claims faster
  • Banks to update portfolio risk exposure
  • Governments to improve response timing, infrastructure resilience, and planning

⚙️ Product Approach

We start with a software-first model, delivering value through a scalable API and platform.

In later stages, we will integrate low-cost ground-based hydrological sensors to:

  • provide real-time water level data
  • validate satellite observations
  • improve model accuracy over time

This creates a hybrid satellite + ground intelligence system, combining global coverage with local precision.

We begin with banks and insurance companies, where real-time risk data directly impacts financial decisions.

We then expand to European governments and NGOs, driven by regulatory pressure and disaster-response needs.

Finally, we scale globally as a climate risk infrastructure layer, supporting financial systems and public sector decision-making worldwide.
