💎 Idea
The Problem: Traditional insurance is too slow. After a flood, victims wait months for an inspector to visit and even longer to get paid .
The Solution: WaterCore uses EU infrastructure to trigger payments automatically. If the water hits a specific height at your coordinates, you get paid in 48 hours—no paperwork, no inspectors, no waiting .
🛰️ EU space technologies
The Tech: we use Copernicus, Sentinel-1 (Radar) to see water through clouds and Sentinel-2 for high-resolution detail. We combine this with a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to calculate water depth .
🌊 EU Space for Water
The Challenge: We approached the Disaster Risk Monitoring theme. Our interest subject was climate risk in insurance, especially flood risk assessment and parametric insurance.
The Impact: We help with a more accurate risk assessment process by showing that a property can be a low risk for insurance companies, even in high risk zones and by accelerating the flow of money after a flood, we prevent business collapse and help communities rebuild faster. We turn space data into financial resilience for water-related disasters.

Roberto Amore: Computer Science student and hackathon veteran. Worked on the flood risk assessment feature using Sentinel-2, Copernicus DEM, Planetary Computer developing the AI model for it .
Naomi-Denisa Gheonea: Computer Science student and Marketing Manager at her own start-up. Worked on the "Automatic Trigger" that sends the payout notification the moment a flood is verified using Sentinel-1, Copernicus DEM and CDS, ensuring regular updates on the condition of the properties.
