Description

1. The Problem

Agriculture in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe is facing a "new normal." In recent years, we have seen a significant increase in hydrological drought severity, with 2024 and 2025 recording record-breaking heat stress.

The specific challenges for farmers are:

  • Machines get stuck - no field moisture data
  • Watering before forecasted rain
  • Crops are being under or overwatered
  • No water supply knowledge

2. The Solution: FieldCheck – A Water Bridge between Space and Soil

FieldCheck is an intelligent irrigation management ecosystem that uses the Copernicus Data, open public data and Copernicus Climate Data to provide a 360-degree view of water irrigation necessity.

How we solve it:

  • Radar-Optical Fusion: We use Sentinel-1 (SAR) to "pierce" through clouds and measure soil dielectric properties (moisture) regardless of weather. We fuse this with Sentinel-2 (Optical) data to account for vegetation cover (NDVI), providing a high-resolution soil moisture map (10m \times 10m scale) that works 365 days a year.

  • Regional Awareness: We integrate Copernicus Satellite Data with open public data. This tells the farmer not just if they need to water, but if the water is actually available in the local infrastructure.

  • Predictive Intelligence: By feeding Copernicus Climate Data (ERA5-Land) into our model, FieldCheck shifts from reactive watering to proactive planning, calculating evapotranspiration rates to tell farmers exactly when the soil will hit the "wilting point."

3. Solution

  • Soil Moisture Maps
  • Irrigation Intelligence
  • Daily Weather Forecast
  • Reservoir Dashboard

4. The Impact

FieldCheck transforms complex satellite data into a simple "Irrigate / Don't Irrigate" recommendation. Our goal is to reduce water consumption by up to 25% while increasing crop resilience against the intensifying droughts of the Balkan region.

5. Target Groups

  • Farmers
  • Agronomiss
  • Water Authorities
  • Agri Consultant
