Challenge #3: Disaster risk monitoring


⚠️ Problem

Flood disasters repeatedly expose the same critical failure in emergency communication. Alerts arrive too late, are too vague and leave residents to rely on word of mouth at the worst possible moment. 


💡Solution Idea

We propose a map-based alert system that identifies high-risk areas at the neighbourhood level and translates complex data into clear, actionable instructions tailored to real-life situations (e.g. “move to a higher floor” instead of “stay home”).

Patrick has over 10 years of experience in software engineering and is a certified AWS Solutions Architect. In his free time, he serves as Vice President of Corporate Relations at BEST Vienna.

Software Engineer Lead

Sanjay has over 10 years of experience in IT and has previously participated in many coding competitions. He focuses on implementing scalable software with clean and maintainable code.

Science Lead

Jimmy is a master’s student in Computational Engineering with a background in Physics. He’s our go-to person when it comes to interpreting environmental and satellite data.
