Description

The Idea

HydroTwin is a municipal decision-support platform that turns scattered, complex environmental data into clear, actionable signals that are easy to understand and use even by non-technical users. Using data fusion, it flags abnormal flood- and drought-related conditions in selected Bulgarian areas of interest, helping authorities see where attention is needed and act earlier.

Key Features

HydroTwin combines AOI-based alerts, a dams monitoring section, and HydroAgent:
an in-platform chatbot that helps users interpret alerts and ask follow-up questions. It also includes a citizen reporting portal:

Flexible Adoption

HydroTwin can operate as a standalone municipal dashboard, as an individual module, or as an integrated layer within existing systems such as ISME-HYDRO.

EU Space Technologies

The platform is built on Copernicus and EU space data. Weather inputs are delivered via Open-Meteo (ECMWF ERA5 and forecasts), while Sentinel data supports satellite-based monitoring of water-related indicators. These signals are fused into AOI-level risk scores, confidence levels, and plain-language action guidance.

EU Space for Water

HydroTwin helps authorities detect risk earlier, prioritize response, and act before escalation. By combining satellite intelligence with local reporting, it supports more resilient and data-informed water management.
