Vegetation is one of the leading causes of powerline disruptions, yet most maintenance remains reactive. Our project combines satellite vegetation data (NDVI), weather conditions, and forest information to predict where trees are most likely to threaten powerlines in the future.
By analyzing factors such as vegetation growth, tree height, wind exposure, and environmental conditions, the solution generates risk scores for powerline corridors and highlights areas requiring attention. Utilities can use these insights to prioritize inspections, optimize vegetation management, and prevent outages before they occur.
The result is a proactive, data-driven approach that improves grid reliability, reduces maintenance costs, and strengthens infrastructure resilience.
