💎 Our Idea
Millions of people worldwide live with chronic health conditions that make them sensitive to environmental factors such as air pollution, temperature extremes, and humidity. These individuals face added challenges when planning travel — certain destinations or times of year may pose serious health risks.
We are developing a travel health platform that uses Earth observation and atmospheric data to offer personalized travel recommendations based on environmental suitability. The app helps users understand where and when it’s safe to travel, providing both forecast-based alerts and historical insights tailored to specific health conditions.
To begin, we are focusing on one of the most environmentally sensitive conditions: asthma. If successful, the platform will expand to support other conditions such as COPD, cardiovascular diseases, and heat-sensitive disorders.
🛰️ EU space technologies
Our solution is powered by the Copernicus program to monitor and assess environmental health risks:
CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) for forecast & historical air pollution data (PM2.5, NO₂, O₃, etc.)
ERA5 (ECMWF) for historical weather data, including temperature and humidity
These technologies allow us to generate personalized risk scores based on users health profiles and planned travel destinations.
🌍 EU Space for Healthcare
Our project addresses the “Monitoring Disease Outbreaks and Health Risks” challenge by leveraging space-based data to reduce the likelihood of health incidents while traveling abroad.
The app empowers both individuals and healthcare providers to make data-informed travel decisions by accounting for environmental triggers and seasonal health trends. It supports:
Preventive and personalized healthcare
Health equity for vulnerable populations
Reduced burden on emergency and healthcare services
