Description

💎 Idea

Our commitment is making tourism more sustainable. We want travelling to become a better experience for everyone. That's the point when Turista was born.

Turista is a mobile app that creates suggested routes for tourists based on their preferences (using machine learning techniques) as well as weather data, taken from satelites. On that ground, it is easier to manage people and avoid overcrowding. Moreover, Turista routes support local businesses because there are suggested traditional places where turists can eat, relax, shop and then go back to finishing their route.

Weather and temperature data taken from Copernicus aim to improve the quality of the recommendations in the routes. For example, open places (such as archeological sites) is better to be avoided during rainy days and istead suggest places such as museums that are closer to one another. On the other hand, sunny days are the best chance to visit open sites as well as landmarks.

Challenge #2 - Experiencing cities and cultures

'Design products, devices or services that offer tourists a unique and sustainable experience of our cities and cultural heritage. If you choose this challenge, you’ll be encouraged to explore topics such as crowd management and slow tourism, personal recommendations and itineraries, social recognition and social media, state-of-the-art, virtual travel experiences and support local businesses and communities '

As already described, with the use of Big Data, Machine Learning and Space Technologies we make recommendations, reducing waiting time in queues, taking care of weather conditions, and finally supporting local businesses.
