A lot of land is unused and has potential to be used as solar farms. The GGIPPSI tool will find these empty lands and qualify and quantity it for use and prioritise between options for solar panel placement.
The tool uses COPERNICUS data to find unused land. These locations are checked against legal maps and solar illumination maps to assess the suitability. It overlays different maps and extracts useful information.
Both challenge 1 and 2 are being tackled. A tool is developed to be used by professional investors and project developers for sustainable developments.
The team consists of 3 team members: Emile Sonneveld, Aleksandr Stommels and Roderick De Cock.
