Description

💎 Idea

SafeSea's mission is to enhance Mediterranean maritime security by delivering high-resolution, high-frequency observations through a proprietary micro-satellite constellation, complemented by advanced software that leverages both Copernicus satellite data and proprietary data to detect ships and track illegal activities for comprehensive maritime monitoring and protection.

Currently, the revisit times of existing private and public satellite constellations fall short of enabling near real-time monitoring of the Mediterranean Sea. SafeSea overcomes this challenge by integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensors, leveraging both Copernicus data and our proprietary satellite constellation, specifically designed to achieve a low revisit time of less than one hour over the Mediterranean. This advanced infrastructure dramatically increases observation frequency, enabling hourly updates to bolster defense capabilities and combat illegal activities in the region.

🛰️ EU Space Technologies

Access to Copernicus Program satellite data is essential for our work. We use this data to develop AI models for super-resolution of SAR images and machine learning algorithms for ship detection. Furthermore, Copernicus data will be integrated with AIS real-time data to monitor the status of ships in the Mediterranean Sea, enabling critical activities such as ship tracking and detecting drug trafficking and illegal activities.

🇪🇺 EU Space for Defence and Security

The challenge that we are addressing is "Enhancing Defence & Security with Geospatial Intelligence". For instance, SafeSea will support the monitoring and the protection of the EU territorial waters by identifying illegal maritime activities.
