SKYFORGE
Forge the skies. Shape the storms.
Overview
Skyforge is a real-time strategy and simulation game powered by European space technology. Using Copernicus Earth observation data (Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3), Galileo positioning, and OpenStreetMap data, players can reshape real urban landscapes — adding trees, removing buildings, greening rooftops — and instantly see how those changes affect the local microclimate.
It turns complex climate science into an immersive, data-driven learning experience, showing how human actions reshape weather in real time.
The Problem
Climate and sustainability concepts are abstract and difficult to visualize. Educators, students, NGOs, and climate communicators lack engaging, intuitive tools to demonstrate environmental impact and urban climate dynamics.
The Solution
Skyforge transforms scientific data into an interactive urban climate sandbox. Players make changes and see measurable outcomes:
🌳 Urban greening → lower temperature
🏙️ Building density → increased heat island effect
Through play, users learn the mechanics of climate change mitigation and sustainable urban planning.
Use of EU Space Data
Sentinel-2 & Sentinel-3 → land cover, vegetation, surface temperature
Galileo → accurate real-world positioning and location-based gameplay
OpenStreetMap → realistic urban environments
Real Copernicus data drives simulation and visualization — not just visuals.
Value Creation
