Wastewater Treatment Plant - No Swim Zones Greece

The first Implementation of our EnfTech Platform is SentinElegxos - A tool for No-SwimmingZones. 

Major Mediterranean Tourist Destinations suffer from overtourism. The local ecosystems are under extreme pressure under climate change and increasing demands from seasonal touristic waves and human activities including Marine Agriculture Industry.  Water resources are scarce and dimensioning infrastructure facilities to cover the peak of demand requires extreme engineering. Wastewater treatment plants failures lead to untreated wastewater ending up in water reservoirs or the sea. 

In Greece alone, four separate authorities monitor wastewater and swimming water quality. Governance is missing a digital information backbone – data pipeline. Authorities are struggling to cooperate via paperwork for pulblic health and environment protection.  Decrees announcing illegal swimming zones  are not following any technical standardisation. 

Abiding by EU WFD Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) and Bathing Water Directive (2006/7/EC) as well as  Open Data Directive 2019/1024 and INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC can be achieved only by using common SpatioTemporal data interexchange standards. 

We provide this digital pipeline. We build the interexchange of information for Public authorities, citizens, tourists. 

For the Competent Authorities in charge, we help them shortlist the most problematic seaside locations with satellite Earth Observation data. Having  identified the problematic areas Public authorities can focus the limited resources in verifying contaminating waters in the field. We additionaly provide RF engineering tools based on Digital Elevation Model to assist in calculating radio propagation for each wireless buoy / water sensor. Our solution reduces  time money Travel expenses and number of visits to the water areas that need extra monitoring.   

We  provide real time mobile applications with Augmented Reality features, ICT and AI tools to the users, citizens and tourists. Travellers/Tourists/Citizens gain an awareness of safe water swimming zones. Quality of the Tourist product is assured and our eco-concious approach visualises the damage that overtourism may cause. 

Enftech Platform

By all means this is not all. This is just a starting point.

In GeoOpen, our EnfTech Platform is a modular, space- and data-driven Enforcement Technology System. Our mission is to facilitate the work of Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs)  by providing them easy to use, low-cost, accessible front-end interfaces while aggregating multiple public datasets with Copernicus/Sentinel satellite data in the backend. The infusion of data in the Public Administration domain expands visibility on wrongdoers and accelerates legal, environmental, agricultural, and infrastructure compliance with EU and national Legislation.  We cover the Enforcement Gap and Information Assymetry identified in the 2024 Report of enftech.org for Consumer Protection Agencies and build solutions for EU Digital Fairness and Sovereinghty.

We investigate problems of hybrid nature in both digital-physical and Private Sector-Public Administration dipoles. Future plans include : EU Common Agricultural Policy Subsidies Anti-Fraud (tree counting), Public Infrastructure Real Time Transit Data RGTFS , Discrepancies between National Cadastre and Notary Contracts (to facilitate procedure of Geometric Cadastre Corrections) and social inclusiveness by crosspollinating advances in Haptic Technologies for the blind with Cartography.
