💎 Idea
Problem
Preparing for a trip has become increasingly complex due to climate uncertainty, volatile weather patterns, and changing environmental conditions. Travelers often arrive unprepared for local realities such as heatwaves, poor air quality, or high UV exposure — resulting in overpacking, unnecessary purchases, discomfort, or even health risks.
This challenge affects not only individual travelers (B2C) but also the broader travel industry (B2B). Travel agencies, tour operators, and airlines are seeking smarter tools to support customer safety, satisfaction, and sustainability goals. However, there is currently no intelligent system that integrates real-time Earth observation data with personalized travel preparation guidance.
Solution
ClimaPack is an intelligent “climate-aware travel assistant” that translates complex Copernicus satellite data and environmental forecasts into actionable advice for travelers and travel professionals.
For individual travelers (B2C), ClimaPack provides a single interactive page that guides users step-by-step through their trip preparation — from destination selection and travel date input to receiving smart packing lists, environmental alerts, and wellness recommendations.
For business users (B2B) such as travel agencies or booking platforms, ClimaPack offers an embeddable module or API integration that enhances their existing customer experiences. Agencies can automatically deliver climate-tailored advice to clients, improving trust, personalization, and eco-responsibility.
🛰️ EU space technologies
Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS): Real-time air quality and UV index.
Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S): Historical and predictive climate data (temperature, heatwaves).
Integration:
Combines CAMS and C3S data to generate climate profiles per destination.
AI translates raw data into actionable travel recommendations (e.g., “Pack sunscreen SPF50,” “Avoid outdoor activities during high PM2.5 alerts”).
By integrating these datasets, ClimaPack transforms complex Earth observation data into clear, actionable travel advice, empowering travelers to pack smarter, stay safe, and reduce unnecessary consumption.
