What: a faster emergency response service to degrade oil spills in the Arctic Ocean

Why: there are many uncontrolled oil spills harming the Arctic ecosystem

How: by first combining satellite images and ship routes monitoring for oil spill detection and then using a bacterium for oil degradation

A faster emergency response service to degrade oil spills in the Arctic Ocean

Through this proposal we intend to degrade as much hydrocarbon as possible in the Arctic Ocean by using bacteria capable of degrading hydrocarbon. To achieve this purpose we will unify information coming from different satellites. This allows us to have a closer real-time information platform by having a higher frequency of satellite images. This platform will allow us to alert governments in a faster way and create a plan to improve oil elimination. In addition, our platform will include information on the routes of ships and their possible correlation with oil spills.
