Get ready for TAIKAI v3, now live with a variety of exciting new features, improvements, and an overall brand redesign. Our hackathon platform has always been renowned by clients and participants alike, but we have no intention to stop innovating. With this version, we are striving for an effortless transition into a web3 hackathon platform by adding new key features as well as refining our blockchain infrastructure.TAIKAI v3 is designed to help both organizers and participants maximize their creative potential and get the most out of every hackathon event. Here’s everything you need to know about our platform’s v3.Migrating to an EVMOne of the key updates in version 3 is the migration of TAIKAI's blockchain operations to an EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine). This will bring many benefits such as increased security, and interoperability and allows us to take advantage of the existing development ecosystem and tooling available on an EVM-based network.Launching on PolygonMigrating TAIKAI (dapp) to Polygon’s Proof-of-Stake (POS) blockchain will bring several advantages:Scalability: Polygon's scalable infrastructure allows for faster and cheaper transactions compared to other blockchains, providing a better user experience for dapp users.Lower costs: The Polygon network operates on a low-cost fee structure, reducing the burden of transaction fees for the platform and dapp users and making the dapp more accessible.Improved security: Polygon utilizes a multi-chain architecture and supports Ethereum's security guarantees, making it a secure environment for building and deploying dapps.Interoperability: Polygon is designed to be fully compatible with Ethereum, allowing dapps to seamlessly connect to other Ethereum-based protocols and services. Access to big DeFi and NFT ecosystem: Polygon provides easy access to the growing DeFi ecosystem, providing more opportunities for dapps to interact with decentralized finance applications and interoperate with other NFT projects. What will this mean for the network users?Polygon is working on other blockchain projects, for example, Polygon ZkEVM or Polygon Zerp, to improve the Polygon POS interoperability and scalability, proving that they have a solid plan to be a successful player in the blockchain space.Overall, migrating a dapp to the Polygon POS chain can provide increased scalability, reduced costs, improved security, and greater interoperability, making it an attractive option for dapp developers.Introducing Proof of Participation (PoP)One of the major new features in TAIKAI v3 is the introduction of the Proof of Participation. This system allows all hackathon participants to receive on-chain NFTs that showcase the projects they were involved in. “This new feature will provide every hackathon stakeholder - such as participants, juries, or mentors - with a tangible and verifiable way to demonstrate their participation and the projects they worked on, evaluated, or mentored”, said Henrique Macedo, Head of Product.PoP is a digital asset used to commemorate and verify an individual's participation in a hackathon event. It serves as a unique certificate of accomplishment and is transferred to the user account on Polygon Blockchain. The NFT is minted specifically for the hackathon participant, and the details of their participation and the event are encoded into the NFT's metadata. This ensures that the proof of participation cannot be duplicated or altered, providing a tamper-proof record of the participant's achievements. Also, we will be allowing participants to mint NFTs from past hackathons through our Retroactive Minting feature! This allows the participants from previous hackathons to receive certificates from all the previous engagements with the platform.Sign in with EthereumAnother major feature we’ve implemented is the Ethereum sign-in!Sign-In with Ethereum is a revolutionary method of authentication that allows you to manage your online identity through your personal Ethereum account and ENS profile, removing the need to entrust control of your information to intermediaries.Web3 already relies on this technology, and our goal is to unify the process with industry-leading standards so that it is easier for web2 services to integrate as well.Signing in with Ethereum offers several advantages for users, including:DecentralizationBy using Ethereum, users can eliminate the need for a centralized third party like Google, Twitter,... to manage their identity and personal information.PortabilityEthereum-based identities are portable and can be used across different applications and services.InteroperabilitySigning in with Ethereum can make it easier for users to move their information and data between different applications and services.ConvenienceUsers can use their Ethereum wallet to sign in, eliminating the need for multiple usernames and passwords.New voting systemsTAIKAI v3 will be introducing new voting systems to improve the hackathon experience. These new systems will make the hackathon more inclusive, more accurate, and more transparent. Specifically, the following new voting systems will be added:Guest voting: This system is especially useful for physical events and will allow anyone to vote on a hackathon without having an account on the system.Multiple voting: This system is an improvement on the current voting system and will make it easier to support separate, themed or category voting tracks.Quadratic voting: This system allows Juris to distribute votes with multiple options in mind, allowing for a more diverse and fair assessment of projects.TAIKAI's new platform designV3 brings a major redesign to our website. These updates will simplify our products for all kinds of users, making them more accessible and easy to use, which aligns with our goal of increasing adoption (learn more about our roadmap for 2023).Simply put, this redesign intends to make TAIKAI’s hackathon platform more product-oriented and less institutional, shaping the way TAIKAI is seen and experienced by organizers and participants.Update:We just announced the rebrand of TAIKAI Labs to LayerX! Learn more about our latest update here. What new features were implemented? You can now see multiple views of the TAIKAI product straight from the homepage. This allows companies and participants to quickly see what our product looks like and how it works. We also added a section on the organizations' page with the benchmark guide table, so you can compare TAIKAI’s platform with other hackathon platforms on the market.Last but not least, we’ve implemented light and dark themes for both web pages - a feature that has been highly requested by our users.Final ThoughtsWe are thrilled to begin the new year, and further pursue our mission of creating top-notch products that address the needs of our users and community. We believe TAIKAI's v3 is a step in the right direction, one that will allow us to provide the best hackathon experience possible for everyone!
