Hey there!

My name is Pedro Ribeiro and I'm a Security Engineer @ Unbabel!

I have a MSc of Computer Science, by Instituto Superior Técnico, focusing of courses of Security and Distributed Systems. My focuses consisted of securing a mobile ticketing application using ARM TrustZone to establish a Trusted Execution Environment where DBStore would be running. DBStore is an SQL-based management system that allows for the secure storage of virtual cards in databases protected by ARM TrustZone. Although DBStore was developed with the focus on a real application, to be named as HCE Mobile Ticketing, and the vulnerabilities it presents, its applicability is vaster and can be used by any application that requires secure storage of sensitive data. We implemented prototypes aimed at running on real TrustZone hardware, using development boards, and our evaluation shows that the performance of the solution induces small overheads to the application. I am now working as a Security Engineer at Unbabel, being the first person with this role at the company. My role is to conduct some pentesting of the applications that are being developed, supporting developers with solutions to any problems that may arise and teach them good security practices that can diminish issues in the future. I'm also responsible for providing security assurances to clients, answering their technical questions and guaranteeing that everything is working as it should. In the future, I aim to gain some sysadmins capabilities and working more on that area as well.
